Gaming keyboards are a love 'em or hate 'em kind of device. While many people love extra macro keys, specific WASD layouts and pseudo-cool designs, others don't. So, did we love or hate the Merc Stealth gaming keyboard? There's only one way to find out.

What is so good in these supposed "gamer keyboards"? I'm perfectly fine with the usual WASD build thank you.

Every "gamer" keyboard I've seen looks big, ugly, stupid and have little to offer over standard keyboards as far as layout and shit goes.

The only "Gamer" keyboard that I've tried and declared good is the Saitek Gamers Keyboard.

Which was just a standard shiny high quality keyboard with that number pad attachment (which I don't use).

I'm typing this on one now, and I also don't use the little keypad.

Zomg! It's so stealthy you can't see it without moving your head from side to side.

I use a saitek eclipse II because it has nice bright back lights for when I'm gaming in the dark. I don't use its special function key that makes the F buttons capable of multiple things, I don't even use the media keys because I'm so used to just pointing and clicking on stuff. I know it could be utilised far more efficiently for a lot of things, but I just can't be bothered setting it all up.

I already own a Merc gaming keyboard. I love it. Yes it is bulky, yes it only has the buttons already available but in different places, yes I am having issues cos Fista don't like it :shakefist: but I still love it. I find it easier to use for FPS and the 'panic' button turns my char around and runs away if I am in an MMO.
Horses for courses I suppose.
The stealth Merc doesnt seem to be much more on the original, some USB ports and a paint job. All the keys seem to be there in the same places /shrug

I must say, I like the idea of a gaming keyboard where the keys are all in the normal place, just with extra leet key stuck on the side too - it has a kind of logic to it really, and the increased number of buttons within easy reach of my left hand could certainly be useful, especially in something like COH where you could bind keys for different powers easily. I tend to have my keyboard fairly central when typing at home, but shift it a bit left for gaming, and I suppose this would do that function anyway. I'm more interested in this than I feel I should be.

Also, I love the idea of a panic button.

/Edit: Interested, but not at that price.
