Herro dudes, i'm having a little problem.

My dad got me a 1 GIG Stick of RAM, but I can only use it on its own, and I can't use it with my 512 Corsair stick of RAM I had before.

Is there a way so I can use both?

cheers.

Herro again, apparently I may need to upgrade my bios for two different bands to work =/

Will PC world do BIOS upgrades for you? As I'd rather have some major company with insurance then risk it.

either way, it's generally dead easy, especially on newer mobos

do it yourself. it's easy. I mean, even if you need to do it in DOS (which I highly doubt) it's not hard at all.

Cheers, I know it should be easy, but, when your a virgin, you know it's going to be hard. Or at least worrying.

I had to do a BIOS flash once, as far as I can remember it wasn't that hard. You have to load an exe and the new BIOS file onto a floppy and just boot from that. It does the rest itself. Just make sure you have the right BIOS file.

Actually the new mobos can do a BIOS flash from inside Windows, so this has gotten much much easier. As long you follow the instructions in the link I gave you you should have no problems at all.

I started flashing the BIOS on my first Athlon board with a bad floppy drive. Thankfully the motherboard could boot a floppy to reflash in case my BIOS was hosed. Now with these Windows Flash Utilities, it's almost painless.

Hey again guys

after finding my old CPU-Z specs and comparing them with my new ones, the only difference I have found with the ram is:

The new 1 gig has a DRAM Frequency of 208.0 mhz

The old 512 ram has a DRAM Frequency of 201.0 mhz

Could this be anything to do with it??

:?

nope, nothing to do with it.

UPDATE:

I now have both peices of RAM working normally :D

but, on CPU-Z, it says my RAM is running at a frequency of 167.5mhz

Is that normal?
