If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Labelflash™ technology

Post by FatherJack »

Have just got a new NEC ND-4551A DVD burner from Overclockers (lightning delivery so close to Christmas) primarily so I can fit it in a machine I'm giving a friend for Christmas and am able to install The Movies, which I've also bought as a present.

Paid the extra 5 notes to get the Labelflash version, but no idea how to erm, flash labels.

Reading around, you need special media to write on the label side of disks, but you can also write on the data side, too. However the only software that seems to do it is a special version of Nero 6.6.3.1 which needless to say didn't come bundled with the drive I bought.

It's not critical, but I have a sneaking suspicion that she would be more excited about making pretty labels than actually being able to burn DVDs ;)

Any shops (or floors) I could get this, or equivalent software? Apparently LightScribe and T@2 (tatoo) do similar-ish things, but I'm not certain they're compatible, or infact the same tech.

LightScribe writes on the label side. T@2 writes on the data side, and is incredibly useless. I haven't heard of this "Labelflash" before though.

www.mininova.org has many many many floorware version of Nero Premium v7

I'm guessing v7 will do what you want, but if not, there are a few live torrents for the version of Nero you mentioned

I meant 6.6.1.3 (but that could 6.6.0.13) - I currently have 6.6.0.18, I don't think 7 will work - because it's a special bundled version rather than a new feature or update, but I'll have a go with these, cheers!

Meh. It's 6.6.1.3 and not available to the public yet. Due to some legal matters it wasn't bundled with the drives. ETA is February.
