shit, i think i might have killed my ipod
just installed itunes on my new Fista machine and it doesn't seem to like my ipod, at best i can get it to upload half my library then it gets an error
its an 80gb ipod and there's only 33gb in my library so size isn't a problem.
sometimes when i connect the ipod windows asks if i want to scan and fix it, as if its a dodgy hard drive or something. itunes sometimes says it can't find it but when it does it gets an error (number 53 i think) about half way through syncing it
edit: could it be anything to do with syncing it with what it thinks is a new library?

i've been on the phone with tech support, flashed the ipod, reinstalled itunes and the usb drivers.
it looked like it was working, but got to half way through, almost EXACTLY half way through by the look of it, and then it just stops as if its finished, but then if i click sync again it says it cannot find the disc
is there anything i can do to it to guarantee they will find it to be fried and replace it?

only thing that springs to mind is shaking it EXTREMELY violently while it's in operation, that might kill the HDD off.
Otherwise, maybe an etherkiller type device might work. (i'd only use 12v or so, not much more than twice the rated voltage, else you risk it being even more obvious)
Note: anything you do to kill your ipod will invalidate your warranty, 5punk, berk and any other bad people take no responsibility for anything you do. the information provided here is merely fun/educational content and is not advice.

yea i dont really want to kill it, but i already sent it back once and they couldn't find anything wrong with it, got it back and have the same problem, even after reinstalling itunes and the usb drivers and doing a hard reset on the ipod (menu and centre button till apple logo then play/pause and centre till a tick comes up) then restored it. every time it gets to just halfway through my library and gives up then says it cant find the discDr. kitteny berk wrote:only thing that springs to mind is shaking it EXTREMELY violently while it's in operation, that might kill the HDD off.

i've tried not using itunes
downloaded media monkey and that wouldn't do it either
also tried a different usb port, a rear one rather than a front one
only thing i havent tried is another computer, cos i'm waiting for my dad to get home from work to let me into his area on the family computer, but he probably doesnt have all that much music, so it might be alright on there. they said if it doesn't work on a another computer they will arrange a replacement.
might have to transfer all my music to my external disk and connect that to the otehr computer, that will take ages though
