Hasn't this been out for ages? Or is there something new that I don't know about?
I know they recently re-released Darwinia with a different control system, and through Steam too I believe, because it was dying on it's arse. Which is a shame 'cos it's rather different. I played the last demo and didn't really like it though, but apparently a lot of people didn't and the new demo could be a different, better version.

I played the demo, liked it. Bought the game, played it for a few hours before getting well and truely confused by having too much to think about. RTS = my brain hurts.
This is the same game I think but now available through Steam

Apparently (according to PC Gamer) it's very good, but as Spoodie says RTSs make my brain hurt so it didn't really appeal to me. Mind you, it just barely qualifies as an RTS and not in the conventional sense.

Yeah, its more an old school shooter with some tactics thrown in almost as an afterthought. I found my brain started to ache due to the mad colours of death. It was like my brain had vomited into my eyeballs.

From the screenshots on the website there seemed to be a lack of prettyness.. is this true?

The graphical style was the thing I liked most about the game, personally I find the quest for photorealism to be dull. abstraction FTW!

Theres an overabundance of prettiness, in a wierd, oldschool way. Its not got bumpmapping or any of that modern claptrap. Just lots and lots of swishy moving colours.

It
was previously released, but it died on it's arse, partly because the makers are still a very small company. It's being re-released through Steam, and what with Gabe Newell raving about it, they've got a much larger potential customer base.
I kind of hope it does well, as it has a unique look and the creators deserve a break, but I don't think it's for me.
I have more RTS games than I want already, and something about its spacky Tron-style graphics irks me, although I can't say why.

I played the demo a while ago, pretty impressive... although I can't imagine the full game holding my attention very long, it'd end up just confusing me or pissing me off.
