Image EVE Online Trial Available On Steam [Eve Online]
Image CCP's MMO EVE Online has had it's FSP. Fair share of problems. Sorry. From breaking PCs to breaking player's hearts, 2007 was one long line of bad press for the space-based multiplayer romp. So they need new players! A clean slate! Which is why they're offering a free 21-day trial for the game on Valve's Steam platform, as well as offering a discounted subscription rate to anyone who signs up for the game through this deal. This makes it a bargain for anyone looking for three free weeks of online sci-fi gaming, while also making it the first ever MMO to be made available over Steam.

I discovered that one of the shoulder pads you can have in COH actually consists of a little tiger or panda sitting on your shoulder. I think this alone warrants a new character. And before you start bitching, it'll still only be my 4th!

Not many games offer a 21 day trial. Also, what ships are those? I don't recognise them.

Arse side view of Tristans, the Gallente lvl3 frigate I think.

Or at least one of the models based on it (Steath Bombers or NPC)

FreeSpace 2 Open Source Project.

Install FS2, Install the High Res pack (was supplied with FS2, if not, it's on the internets).

Instal FS2 OSP extra bits.

Install/Remove as many 3rd party texture/model/particle/gfx enhancements packs* as you please.

*These may have be be disabled on certain levels, like the one in the nebulas, as they dropped my game from a nice 80ish fps in space, to 20fps in the nebula on my old X800GTO.

Is it? I never saw tham that close. I only ever saw Minmatar ships, which are ugly in any engine.

Just as I was reading this my Caldari Battleship V finished on Fear Not. Spooky or what.

I don't intend on going back just yet.

As an aside which is sure to get an EVE argument going:

I've played COH now and all that seems to be left is risk-free missioning to level. There seems to be little else other than a good costume designer to make me want to log in again. About the same place I got in Guild Wars. Eve at least kept me entertained for over a year.

Playing with (more) 5punkers is always a laugh, i'll grant you.

I feel the same way about CoH, I'm not going to be spending any money on it. I need something more in an MMO than just repeatedly hitting things.

That's CoH's downfall - the missions are pretty much all the same. They are in Eve too, but Eve has PvP as its strong point. I play CoH because it's a bit of a playground and all the other kids are stupid - the missions are just a vessel for our silliness. I don't play Eve because it takes too much of a time investment for it to satisfy me. Horses for courses really. Plus, I'm not really into PvP - I get that kick playing COD.
