The other week my dad dropped off a load of stuff I'd left at his house from when I lived there, including a big box of old games. It's like being a games archaeologist! I've just opened it up and had a look at teh top layer, and already found Privateer 2, Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries and Full Throttle, along with a Videologic Apocalypse 3D PowerVR video card and a Geforce 2.

Can't wait to come home and see what else is in there.

What do you lot all do with the mountains of old games that are accumulated?

Play them. Or spend all day trying to get them to work with the xp application compatability tool kit. Then play them.

Really old ones, like C64 games are in the attic - or at least I think they are, but I can't fit through the hole anymore.

I had suprisingly few floppy-disk games, but boxes of CDs - the cardboard boxes and instructions are packed away in another box.

Game packaging is so much better now - all the stuff fits in a DVD-type case and I keep them in a set of drawers that the PC sits on.

Console games are mostly on display on shelves, but anything 16-bit or older is in one of those plastic storage crates.

See if they run, play them, uninstall them, store them away, replay as desired.

Father Jack, you should really get those C64 tapes down out of the loft, temp changes aren't good for them....


oh, and some of them command respectable money on teh' bay if you're a heathen and sell classic games.

Nope, Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries. First game I ever bought I think, circa 1996. Mechwarrior games always had brilliant intro sequences where the good guys get a kicking.

T'was win, but required you to remember more keys than every flight sim evar.

At least that's what I remember, but I think I first played it before I even knew about mouselook etc.
