path of neo- in parts extremely fun (i mean come on how couldnt it be? the fights replayed from the movie are usualy amazing fun, but the 'not in the movie' parts are terrible for the most part) but its a tad bit (nay, very) sketchy. fightings good, shootings terrible. oh and theres man sized ants to fight too.

get true crime, i didnt even know there was a new one but the original was errectional

I am finding True Crime Streets of New York to be quite fun.

I have the PS2 version, as it will be passed on to my PS2-only-owning brother-in-law when I'm done with it, so some of the graphical glitches I get may not be present on the XBox version.

It's okay once you immerse yourself in it, and ignore the shortcomings of the platform. Having played not much but PC games for the last 3 months, seeing granular shading and chunky dithering in the fog was a bit offputting at first. There are the odd glitches graphically and in your char getting stuck, but neither of these are game-killers.
Considering the current crop of consoles is just about at the end of their lives, it does rather well - some nice effects, especially the wet roads reflecting everything quite realistically. Compared to the previous title about LA, it's quite a different atmosphere.

It's much the same sort of story as the first one, in that it's part shooter, part driving and part kung-foo - all ludicrously simplified of course, and you learn techniques which make it even easier - perfect 90° & 180° turns in the car, zoom and slow-mo on the shooting, etc.

They've fixed some of the stuff from the previous game, too - you're in "free ride" all the time now, and access missions and upgrade shops by visiting them when you want. There's a lot more to do as well - multiple mission threads and locations you can enter just for fun. I went into a laundromat and was wondering what I was supposed to do in there, until one guy busted out a flamethrower.

The mini-missions can get a bit repetivite - I've saved a DJ from some angry clubbers about 3 times now, but never managed to catch the guy with a hostage in his trunk. Chasing a "celebrity" down the freeway in his SUV was a fun one, though - well it was until just as I was about to arrest him when a (keystone) cop car flies in and splats us both. No stealth missions as yet, which is a good thing in my book. Eventually you clean up the city's districts by doing the mini-missions, so you have something to aim for, rather than "SOLVE SIX CRIMES TO ADVANCE THE STORY MODE" in the first one.

It's easier to lose the bad cop status than it was in the first one - if you decide to take a short-cut through central park and slaughter some of the many pedestrains foolishly walking there, you can turn in evidence (as opposed to pawning it) and get back in the law's good books. Good news for those of us who want to "just have a quick go" with the flamethrower.

The keys can be a bit fiddly - my first attempt at the 90° turn went rather badly wrong - I accidentally shot my gun instead of turning - at a gas station on the corner. As I wasn't turning I also carried on *into* the gas station, which of course exploded right on cue.

Motorbikes, clothes changes and haircuts are all in there - probably inspired by GTA, although the skill upgrades are unique to the series. Absolutely everyone in the street swears at you and gives you the finger, except the geeks in the electronics shops who zap you with stun guns, gleefully triumphant until you whip out the 12-gauge.

The music is a nice mix of rap, punk, rock and pop, rather than the rap-heavy first game. Not many games can boast Sonic Youth and Public Enemy in the playlist.

mmkay, heres my 5 pennys worth:

1. Prince Of Persia 2 Thrones

I enjoyed the first 2 immensly. Cant imagine this being anything other than great unless they seriously dick about with the format.

2. Matrix Path Of Neo

After Matrix online, and enter the matrix, I have a strong suspicion about any game related to the Matrix films. I will remain suspicious untill I actually get to have a go on it.

3. True Crime Streets Of (New York i think is the new one)

not a clue.

4. COD 2 Big Red One

Weeeel, CoD is always a solid choice. However, my main reason for getting it was the 5punky CoD fun. Without that, I probably wouldnt have bothered. Plus, in my opinion console+FPS=shite.

5. James Bond From Russia With Love

Dunno, again. Cant be any worse than the previous Bond game, but thats not really a recommendation.

true crime is balls. full stop. Prince Of Persia is an ace game, although not better than the sands of time, its better than Warrior Within. CoD 2 Big Red One is also very good. The first CoD on the consoles was shit, as it followed in no way to the pc version, but this one is very similar to the pc version of CoD 2, so its awesome basically. James bond is ok, but will only last you a week at the most. then you'll get bored and want to take it back. also its very boring using the jetpack =/. I havnt played Path Of Neo, but ive heard that the combat and graphics are shit, cos u only use one buttom to melee attack, the console decides what you want to do for some reason. oh and all of the above is just my opinion as ive played them ;)

I found Path of Neo for PC on the floor and it didn't last long before being uninstalled. It is nice the way it expands upon the films, but the game is mostly average

Not sure TC:NYC will last me much longer - I've unlocked almost everything except the main missions after 2 or 3 night's play.

It's fun, but no GTA in terms of longevity. I fully expect my brother-in-law to be playing it come Sunday night.

Meant to mention this about the console versions of CoD2 before but, according to the blurb:

"Current consoles would struggle to do justice to the PC version, and instead have their own completely original game, Big Red One, designed from the ground up. Simply put, it's better that than a poorly executed port."

ie: it's not the XBox360 version which is the "same" as CoD2, but a whole 'nother game.
