I got an email advertising these things and I don't really get it. There seems to be more of them about but how do they work and what supports this supposed 3D, in the scope of gaming? Perhaps Professor Television can give me some insight. :)

I can help, but I must re-iterate, I am not a professor in televisions I'm better at dropping them if you must know. :P

This is quite an interesting article. It would appear that 2 slightly different pictures are created to produce a faux 3d effect, but it's limited to a set distance atm. I'm mostly interested in the 3d porn aspect of it though! :boogie:

Damn you, I'm not calling Pants Jr Pete now. I might still follow Chicken's suggestion of Robert Bob though.

Yeah, the new-ish ones use two LCD panels to display slightly different images. To view the 3D image you still have to wear polarizing glasses, so you'll still look like a mental, but the effect is fairly convincing IIRC. Not worth the cost though.

You don't have to wear the glasses with some of the new tech, just sit at a certain point away from the screen for it to work.

I just remembered that we've got a new tv in work from philips that boast being able to show two pictures independently of each other, it can show news to one person, and a movie to another if you want, or you could watch a movie sat next to the missus and she'll wonder why your showing an interest in coronation street or similar. I've not watched the demo in action, just the build up to it, but I can tell you that it's really fucking heavy, especially given it's only a 32". (twss)

Interesting but probably not worth getting one yet. Also sounds very headache inducing to me.
