^ This.
Though I think the FP is better, less clutter.
I think it'd be good for:
- The 5chedualer
- Appearing next to threads when browsing a forum

Well it depends, how are programs being blocked? Is it by filename, just because they haven't been approved, or are they command line programs? What are you trying to do?
/tech support
I think we should reduce the number of post icons - or maybe a little javascript thing to show/hide them?

Gahhh!!! Javascript and Java are completely different.
Javascript was invented by Netscape as a way to add cool stuff (like bubbles floating from the mouse, or pop up windows) to webpages. It was originally called Livescript (which would make life so much easier) but they wanted to ride off the success of the Java language. They're not even that syntaxically similar, and run completely differently.
So now you know
(and deject, is it worth learning Java? I had a stab at it and gave up it a few years ago, but I might have another go)

Its quite easy, compared to most things. Whether its usefull or not is another question entirelly.

^ what joose said. so far it's not too hard, I'm just learning at an accelerated pace because most of my classmates have done more programming than I.
as to it's usefulness, I really don't know, although there's this:

Its quite useful as a way of easing into C++, I suppose. The syntax and everything is very similar, its just that Java is a bit more "programmer friendly". Of course, that does mean its a little restrictive and godawfully slow, but for a lot of purposes that doesnt really matter.
Its so similar, in fact, that I answered my C++ written exam entirelly in Java, as I could remember nothing, and still got above 70%

lol, yeah we've done a kind of intro to C++ because that's what the next course is going to be dealing with. HURRAH DATA STRUCTURES!
