Googlebots

There seeems to be loads of activity with googlebots recently on 5punk (which has now had 2550 searches btw).
Does this mean the site is getting more popular, and linked to from other places?
Anybody know what causes Google to increase/decrease activity on sites with their bots?

A google link: search still shows the usual list of suspects.

How odd. Nearly all of my (not too numerous) b3ta image posts are on there. Why only mine?
