has anyone managed to set this up? I really cant cope with having it as C. not that it's need very much in this game I just miss it when playing. When I try to set it to left CTRL in the options it ignore the key press

It worked okay when I tried it, maybe something funny with keyboard or language detection.

Otherwise try putting
bind "LEFTCTRL" "_moveDown"
in an autoexec.cfg file in the q4base directory (you might have to create the file), it belongs in Quake4Config.cfg but this gets overwritten when you modify any settings.

I just tried it again and it seems to work fine now but thanks. I even tried editing that file (things havent changed much since Quake 1 have they ) but it just wouldn't recognise the key press. Probably we quirk with my bluetooth keyboard or something
