This country is turning into a bag of shit with so many liberal "do-good'ers" wasting time and money on stupid stuff like this.

I bet if it were a Scottish prison with their staff wearing their national flag as pin badger*, not a single thing would be said.

*mis-typed, but I left it in for comical value

I read this in the paper and it sickens me to think we are discouraged from showing pride in our country. At the moment it's mostly only the bigots and racists who have the balls to display the flag, most "normal" people are too afraid to offend, so it compounds the problem. :x

Anyone remember a couple of years ago when all those racist came out of the woodwork, displaying England flags on their cars during the world cup or something. :?

Wow, that'd even be bad for this country if people were getting their knickers in a twist over tie pins.

Christ almighty.

Anyone else heard about that hospital, where cooing over newborn babies has been banned?

Why would anyone do that? I suppose it's demeaning to babies. Reminds me of Britney Spears gibbering about her baby clothing range "empowering babies". :?

I was going to mention that. That news story was from the West Yorkshire part of the BBC too. Pathetic.

I'm a liberal person, but that is just bloody stupid.

Yes. St.George was a Greek soldier who was martyred by the Romans (no relation) as he refused to worship their pantheon of gods, preferring instead Mr. Jesus H Christ.

Despite having nothing to do with our country, he is indeed our patron saint (ignore rubbish about dragons etc).

more accurately it's our national flag, for everyone in England that is.

It's the St. George cross (England) rather than the Union Jack (or more correctlly, Union Flag) (Britain) that seems to be the problem. In recent years it has been used as a symbol (the big fist on the Northern Ireland version doesn't help much here) by certain racist groups who advocate removal of anyone not "English" from the country, despite the fact that many of the people they are targeting were born here, and that if you go back a few years, we're all French, Italian or Scandinavian anyway.

It's now widely accepted that we take back our flag from these wankstains and simply be proud to support our nation, especially now we're at least achieving some success in the sporting arena: Rugby and Cricket, at least.

I personally feel more embarrassed wearing anything with a Union Flag on, as it tends to be reminiscent of our subjugation of other nations, and Spice Girls pants. Excellent choice for a Mini roof, though.

StGeorge flag, Our English flag is something to be proud of! But the British flag, Or the Union Jack is something to be amazingly proud of! It really saddens me thats no British School (To my knowledge and with talking to my History teacher) teaches British History, or how our boys kept our home from being invaded. Since 1066 there hasnt been 1 successfull invasion of the British isles, French tried in 1700s a few times but never got anywhere. Funniest was the French invasion of Fishguard. Women in with pitchforks manage to capture alot of the invasion horse and drive the rest away :)
