Overheating and shutting down on me. I've hosed, hoovered, blown, sucked, tapped, brushed and run various diagnostics on it and without actually breaking into it, I can't work out what else to do.
Any ideas?

Check warranty status and report if still in warranty.

Common laptop overheating problems are caused by fan failure.
Do the fans come on when the laptop has been on for a while?

This! I had to take the fan-cover off my laptop and clean out all the gunk.
It ran a lot better, although unscrewing the case borked the threads so it wouldn't screw back together properly.
But if your laptop has build quality higher than, say, a Christmas cracker toy, you're probably fine.
