I have thought of a cunning (and rather tricksy) setup for PvE, and would like somebody to point out where the inevitable flaw in my plan is.

For this to work you need rather good drone skills, but i have that.

Basically, get a thorax and jam it full of the finest drones money can buy. But instead of kitting the rax out with guns, fit a mix of nosferatu's and remote repairers. As I understand it, NPC rats have infinate cap (the cheating swine). charge in fast, lock the least likely to die immediately and pump it for cap with your nosferatu's. As these puppies can suck out 36 units of cap each (medium tech 2's), every 6 seconds, a couple of em together would give you a fairly healthy cap boost. You then use this cap boost to keep your armour tanking going, whilst simultaneously repairing the drones. Effectively: drone tanking!

There must be something wrong with this logic, but i cant see it. If no-one can think of a problem with it, I may just give it a go.

EDIT:A quick calculation tells me that 3 tech 2 medium nosfer can keep 1 medium armour going indefinately, with some cap to spare

I'm not sure rats have infinite cap any more after the last patch, might be worth checking on Eve-online.com. Other than that, nice thinking

Nice idea joose, but yes, rats now only have limited cap. to counter this though you could quite easily fit a few cap rechargers or cap powr relays

boo hiss. Ah well, still like the idea of repairing your stuff with someone elses cap, so i'll probably give it a go anyway

I use a small nos against rats on my Rifter to suppliment my cap. The only thing I use my cap for is my shield recharger, so it lets me last a bit longer should things get hairy. It's always in range too because my autocannons have an optimum range of 575m and it lets me recover the shield damage I take while getting so close.

The thorax is gona have have a dronebay nerf. As a drone carrier it'll way too over-powered, what with the coming changed in project rebirth, if they didn't. Don't fret however. There is still a percectly viable drone carrier amongst the gallente cruisers
