Getting BioShock to run on an older graphics card...

seems like bioshock doesnt support sm2.0 graphics cards as standard and they have no plans to at the present.

"arse" thinks i. so i hit google and it turns out someone has made a 3rd party patch to make it run. and while some of the textures are not pretty (the hands and weapons look like they are rendered in DX7) the rest of the game is fine, and runs suprisingly well on my puny little x800 (running at 1280x1024, full screen, all effects enabled.)

details of how to do it and where to get the downloads can be found here

remember tho, there are 3 versions of the patch. 2 for older cards like the raddy 9800 that use sm2.0 and 1 for slightly newer cards like my x800 that use sm2.0b it tells you what version you need when you click through to the download page.

hope this has helped some of you who couldnt play the game manage it :D

That's doesn't actually look too bad once the hacks have been applied.

Yeah, good find there azra3l. Hope it's of use to people, I know there were a few others here who didn't think they could run the game.
