With the popularity of the game on a downward slope at the moment there isn't many people around at any given time. This isn't so good for MMOGs, whose main appeal is working with a group of people. I hope scheduling a few corporate events will bring back some of that group appeal; I certainly enjoyed my team mining session with Hehulk the other day. I can attest to how isolated you can feel in the game when nobody you know is online and all you feel like you're doing is earning money to get a bigger ship to earn more money.

Here's hoping that the co-ordinated mining outing on thursday breathes a bit of life back into the old dog - it's more entertaining than it sounds. There are a couple of others like me who've started playing late who I think would enjoy a bit of 5punky bonding.

I wouldn't mind having a go at a few races either, although I'm a little wary of PvP as a noobie.

Maybe there's a way we could make an impression on the world in a 5punky way, sort of comedy terrorism.

What would you like the future of 5punkorp to be?

I think that I'm falling out of love with Eve and have been for a long time, but I don't want to leave it or 5punkorp.

So can anyone think of something that will enhance our experiences of the game to the point where I'll want to be playing regularly again?

I'm thinking of things like; join an alliance, strike out into 0.0, start fighting random wars with people we don't know, more/less bummagings, organise more corp events (on Sundays or Tuesdays for preference!), etc. That sort of shit. Ideas people, ideas!

:D
dammit, you cant let 5punkcorp faill, just as i'm running through the tutorial.

Well, if you can bring yourself to just long in to grind, perhaps a complete change of pace is needed. That's part of the reason I left 5punkorp for BS.I. You might find that if you sign up with a PVP corp (*cough*BS.I*cough*) it'll revatilise you. I still mine over here, and agent run and all the other stuff I use to do, but I get a healthy dose of PVP which is what I really needed. Also (and don't spread this one. serously. I'll get in trouble.) we're about to move out in 0.0 and make a small fortune (how does 300-500 million a week sound?) each doing some high end mining. add this in with the fact that the current political sceen being very 2 sided (serous, large scale war is coming. there's plans being drawn up on our side already, apparently) and it makes for a very interesring setting, just to be aware of.

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into a recruitment thread, but it might make the difference for you. come on, give us a try.

EDIT: Honestly, The only reason I'm saying this to most of you is because I feel you'd be much happier over here.

Oo-er, is now a good time to tell you I've cancelled my subscription?

I've transferred all my ships (including the Megathron) into the corp hangar, as well as all my loot, blueprints and a rather funky Implant chip (in the ships folder also).

Ironically the reason for me leaving is the same reason that accounted for most of my playing time over the past 2 or 3 months - the building of the Battleship. Once I'd finished building it I actually realised how long it had taken to do (mining and trading etc), not only that but I would need to continue trading away to be able to afford insurance for it. Then I would need to get weapons for it. Then I would need to train for said weapons. Then I would no doubt get destroyed by a player whose sole joy is to camp a gate and destroy people.

You get the idea. I agree with Joose in that I feel like it's become more of a job than a game to be enjoyed. Then of course there's my crack like addiction to Guild Wars.

My subscription ends 22nd September, so if anyone wants anything refining or a get together for some 0.0 spanging, give us a shout.

And give me all of your kittens.

And thus the Eve Generation collapses.
Now you just wait for all the other MMO's to cancel subscriptions and make everyone pay a final one off fee and go down the path of GuildWars. They've made enough money for their servers just by sales alone, because there aren't any subscription fees.

I think it'd be a huge advancement in MMO games if the others picked that fact up.

Yes, advice to new players: Don't start off with the intention of building a Battleship as soon as you can. They look good certainly, but you can use a frigate to great effect if you have the right skills and equipment.

Im afraid that I too have been considering shifting over to BS.I as i've been trading and mining for ages and its getting a little old and I like the thought of action and so on as i've not done it yet and while I like the thought of leading 5punkcorp into Wars and stuff, I fear that we are too few in number to not get oblitorated, and it may discourage new 5punkateers from joining if they think they might get killed instantly.

I'll still be in the ex-5punkers and will happily help, guide, donate money to, and bum any new people who wish to join the 5punk but sadly I feel its my time to move on (although not too far!)

(And I guess this means I can't be CEO either, sorry everyone!)

talk about jumping ship whole-sale. First me, then Grimmie, Joose and now Fab-Yak and possibly Amblin. This really could be the start of 5punkorp - the next generation, if it survives. if it doesn't, well, star trek came back didn't it.

I propose the new 5punkorp specialises in Biological research in the field of reanimation - zombies! Everything is made more interesting when zombies are involved.

I can't actually see how this could be fit into the game mechanics, but maybe if we shout loud enough we can start a rumour and convince people that there ARE actually zombies in the game.

Which would be a wizard prank.

Yes! 5punkorp changes the world. Now we just need a cunning plan...
