wierd firefox cursor thing

over the past few weeks i have noticed that on firefox, if i click anywhere on a web page, whatever i have clicked next to, i get the flashing line | cursor thing, as if there was a text box there.

I'm not sure if it was an update that made this happen but it seems to be the line is whatever size the thing is that has been clicked next to (i.e. if it was a big picture and i clicked next to it, i would get a flashing text line as big as that picture) and its really starting to get annoying.

I know this probably makes no sense at all but was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to fix it. :?

Have you got Carat Browsing on? Press F7, see if that helps.

What does assaying the precious gem/metal weight of the web page actually give you? Is it useful?
