What's everyone think then? I've put a 20 quid deposit down so I'll be able to get one on Thursday if I want one, but I still haven't completely decided yet. Anyone got any horror stories? Or is it cool as fuck?
Discuss.

I don't have one but know a couple of people that do, they are very nice little machines and if you have any interest in running home-brew games or emulators on it you should definately get one. You'll need a big memory card for that stuff though

Get one with firmware v1 or v1.5. v1.5 requires KXploit (to eb able to use memory card to run homebrew, v1 doesn't) but is just as good as v1. Do not buy v1.51, v1.52 or v2 (or upgrade to them). Not sure what firmware UK version has but it's probably v2.

Erm. why?

Because -lovely though they may be- the best thing about PSPs is that you can run emulators and home-brew software on them. The new firmwares prevent you running all that stuff at the moment.
They'll probably get around it soon enough, but you'll have a wider catalogue of software to play with if you get an older one.

PSP out this weekend, it's tempting. Hopefully they'll all sell out so I can't buy one.

I don't do euros but that's pretty much how much they cost here: £35-40
us UKers have to pay more because we are all so rich

The battery is quite good, it can last aroun 6 hours and it takes one hour or so to charge
for the people doubting to buy the psp, BUY IT !
its really great, i love putting movies or family guy episodes on there
The screen is also really f-ing good
The only bad thing about the psp is the memory
the internal memory isnt much so the cookies must be deleted quite alot
and the memory cards cost alot but thats not really sonys fault
You cant use the default sony headphones, they cant make alot of sound because it might hurt our fragile little ears

i would gladly pay £300 for a psp if they had stuck a 20gb hdd in it. Just look at the size of those tiny toshiba hdds, im sure it would have been possible, and a much better device. UMD is not the answer.
F-ing sony again! so close and yet so far

Err, yes it is. That's 'cause Memory Stick is a proprietary format owned by Sony. For every Memory Stick (by any brand) sold anywhere, Sony gets a chunk of the cash.
