fraps

hey, anyone use anything other than fraps to record gaming? (i.e somthing better)

i recorded 10 mins of halo footage and it used 3.09GB ...

unfortunately, unless you're rather inventive, it's difficult to do much better than fraps

You registered the bloody thing? I thought it did 30 seconds at a time unregistered, though I may be wrong.

best thing to do is yank the 30 GB, but it through something like Windows Movie Maker, and optomise it to WMV or AVI. Win Movie Maker lets you set the filesize you want then optomises it for you.

Divx, XviD, or Windows Media Encoder. Surpisingly, the WM codecs are something Micro$oft did right. Well, except the DRM part. But WMV looks great to me.

yup, divx converter is simple and pretty fast.

mostly i use vdub, but it's quite complex if you don't know it.
