ORE Capital Ship

it's comming on Tuesday:

ORE Capital Ship
Outer Ring Excavations has been hard at work over the last year to answer the rising need for a logistical mining support platform capable of surviving the rigors of the frontier whilst serving as a central command platform for mining operations. The ship fills this role by having the unique ability to compress ore and ice to a fraction of its original volume for transport and storage using the latest in advanced techniques. Additional abilities include:

Fitting capital tractor beam modules which can pull cargo containers from two hundred kilometres at a much faster velocity than normal tractors beams can,
Inherent bonuses to the range of survey and cargo scanners allowing it to survey asteroid belts at a glance from its position and the status of cargo cans for its mining gang and,
It can equip multiple gang links and provide significant bonuses to the mining foreman gang links.
Bonus to Capital Shield Transporter range per lvl of ship skill.
Like other ships in its class, the ORE Capital Ship will also:
Include a ship maintenance bay, corp hangar, a generous drone bay and cargohold,
Have the ability to fit a clone vat bay, and
Be propelled by its own jump drive to move between systems.
How does the ship operate?
The ship requires an Industrial Core module to function. Module activation facilitates the operation of the ship into its deployed mode. When in deployed mode, the ship's assembly lines and special bonuses are active and it can provide remote assistance, but it cannot move, warp or jump. The Industrial Core requires a skill to operate which reduces the fuel use of the module.

How does it compress ore/ice?
The ship has assembly lines which the capsuleer can activate for compression of ore and ice. Blueprints are needed to facilitate the compression process, thus turning normal ore into compressed ore in the same way manufacturing operates.

What will it cost?
The initial investment will be slightly higher to that of a dreadnought to build, at least two new skills will be required (one for the ship and one for the deployment module) in addition to the cost of the deployment module.

Mining Foreman Links Revamp
A number of the Mining Foreman links are being revised, the revisions and reasons are:

Drone Coordination has been broken since inception due to the nature of the gang bonus system. This module has been changed to provide a bonus to mining laser, ice harvester and gas harvester range.
The Laser Optimization link will have the ice harvesting and gas cloud harvesting duration bonus added.
The Ice Harvesting link will be changed to provide a bonus to the capacitor need of mining lasers, ice harvesters and gas cloud harvesters.
Small Update to the Survey Scanner UI
The survey scanner UI has been cleaned up so users will be quickly able to see which asteroids are desired and information can be passed to your gang via gang broadcasts, directing them to the juiciest ‘roids.

In closing
Mining is the oldest profession in New Eden and as the true foundation of EVE from which all other things are made (to one day be destroyed in the great circle of EVE life) deserves more love and attention that it has received. We hope the upcoming and future patches are just the initial scratch on the surface (literally) of what is possible with mining.

As always, we welcome any constructive feedback you have and hope you will continue to press for changes and new features as you have always done in the relevant forums.

----------------------------

So, do we have any thoughts on getting one for the Corp? (or NR?) Unlike carriers and DN's this one looks to be almost exclusivily for the betterment of the corp/alliance it's attached to. With the inital cost just over that over a DN that would put the cost around 2.5bil fitted + 500mil for insurance. Call it a conservitive figure of 3bil and if you get it for less it's a good deal.

Anyhow, this could be the goal we work towards as a corp... thoughts?

Well there will have to be an investment in BPO's & Research, or BPC's as well as the skillbooks for the pilot (which will prolly be 200mil+ unless you need capital piloting, which is another 430mil)

So the cost will be a tad more, but if the alliance jumps on board those costs could be covered.

To compress ore they are in a kind of seige mode, in a kind of seige mode they are the BIGGEST sitting target I can possibley think of.

Unless you take a small POS with you and set it up at a nearby moon and sit in that.

Or, if they are awesome and put up their own shield, not unlike a POS bubble.. when they deploy. (How cool would that be?)

Or, if they get benefits ala siege module or triage where they can repair mo' better while deployed...

We'll have to see how they get released for sure. But I wanted to throw this all out there.

Hell, in the end it might end up being used as *the* jumphauler if it's slots + space = the most out there.

What Rabbit said is true, ofc, buuuuttttt it could probably be set up sufficiently well to tank belt spawns, allows JC's, bonuses, makes haulers much more efficient because they're carrying more ore for less M3, jump capability and such.... all add up to a nearly balance do it/don't do it for me. The cost is high enough to make it an alliance asset, so who gets to use it when? With the average turnout we have, does the use of one of these warrant it's existance, or would another Hulk be more beneficial with 3 more lasers running. Pimped out transports and a freighter cost less and move things quite fine for the scale we work atm. Perhaps if NR can top a billion isk a week it would be of value, but I don't know if we've even made that in a month so far. With one of those, we could operate completely out of a POS somewhere though, so it does create possibilities and other capabilities for the alliance, but sadly we don't like POS's that much!

So when I've got the isk in my hand, I'll have to make that decision for myself, but for the time being I'm going to suggest a 'wait and see' for more specifics on how much the ore compression costs for fuel/bpcs and M3 compression rate. Also how well it can tank, the number of clones it can fit, the Hangar size, and a few other things will weigh in once we see solid stats after it hits the server.

Drone bay! How big is the drone bay, and can it deploy more than 5? That will matter to me as well!

This shall be the reticles next target, after t2 mining is complete.

Tho I might set up a griefing char on her account instead, hmmm....

Can't deploy in a POS last time I checked.

They don't.

Not completely sure but doubt it.

They're cool yea, and probably useful in NR due to the quiet nature of the area of space... but they are still large amounts of isk sat in a belt stuck there :P

IDK, might be useful for BoB, can't see it being useful for anyone else.

At least a dread in seige is generally destroying something and have a backing fleet.

This looks like it'll need serious protection....which for a mining op is probably a bit ott.

seems cool. is it for us now? not so sure but its worth looking into or making the parts for it (module bpo)

Good point, we don't have much to lose with building the components if we ask Lyrus nicely for some bpc's for most of the capital components. It will also be important to know if we need to build in a capital building array since it has clone vats, might be a requirement since Mom's do, iirc. But worst case then, we'd have some components sat built somewhere that need sold, or assemble them and sell it. Who wants to get behind mining for one of these? It would be alot more work, (assumption) than mining for a freighter. In fact, mining for 2 freighters might be more profitable in the long run. Who can contact Lyrus and ask what their intentions are regarding the bpo's that this thing will require vs. the ones they have in stock currently.

Lyrus are thinking about getting a BPO, no more than that at the moment.
ISS will probably acquire a BPO

I will be buying one of these (from either source) for Mano to assist NR, predominantly for ore compression and jump hauling. She's been training for it since I heard about them.

If the corp(s) want to assist me with costs then of course I'd be grateful.
