Image Impending: PC BioShock Demo Coming Soon (7pm EDT Monday Night)
Image7pm EDT. Monday night (if that's your neck of the woods; the rest of you go sort out your own time zone conversion like I had to). That's when PC users can get in on the sweet, sweet BioShock demo action those 360 owners have been licking off their fingers this past week. FilePlanet users, you should already be "pre-downloading" it, everyone else, hold tight. Big question is, will you be playing the same demo? NO! OK, mainly yes, but we've been told one of the plasmids is in a different spot. Here's hoping this relocation doesn't completely RUIN the experience.

The demo should be released at midnight for us in the UK.

Sounds good, but I'll probably not have time to play it before I actually buy the game.

Only if you want/have hardware that supports DX 10 goodness. I don't therefore won't

I have the hardware, but am lacking the software and don't fancy forking out for it until it becomes necessary.

Should have the demo mirrored some time before episode 2 gets released.

This is not reassuring, but thanks anyway. ;)

It downloaded at a massive 75kb/s from failplanet.

is now uploading at 110kb/s to dreamhost.

In reality, it should be done for 6 or so, maybe 7 if it slows down.

And then I notice that the file is undersized.

Apparently someone worked out how to crack the zip, so fileplanet pulled it.

However, the lovely cracked version is appearing on newzbin.

Best laid plans and all that. Probably actually have a mirror sooner this way I guess.

Sounds a bit big (twss) for the demo.

I managed to get the demo. So far it's ctd'd at the second load screen then wouldn't load up again complaining that dbgeng.dll or something was missing until I restarted. Next I got a black screen after the first load screen so I reloaded the game, this time I made it to the second load screen again before getting a BSOD. Not a good start...

This is quite possibly why they said to update your graphics drivers with shiny new ones (which will probably be released at the same time as the demo)

Just another way to (try) to stop anyone playing the game in their own time.

Anyway, it seems I'll have a working version on bukkake in 10-15 mins, so there.

Yep, here they are: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_163.44.html

I'll try them tomorrow and hopefully I'll actually be able to play :)

No promises that it'll work (but it should do), use a download manager. etc. etc.

It's also worth knowing that save is disabled, and it doesn't like you to alt+tab. so now you know.
