Buying stuff...

Since joining 5punk, have you bought or upgraded hardware that you wouldn't have really upgraded had you not been involved here?

For example, have you decided to buy a headset because of teamspeak? Or have you upgraded your graphics card to keep up with everyone?

Since joining, I've moved into a shuttle case, bought a 16ms TFT, a much better headset, bought (and broke) a 9800 Pro, moved to the AMD platform (my old P4 fried, but it sucked for gaming anyway).

I'm kinda curious to know what the impact of this little gaming community is having on our tech spending habits...

I definetly got a headset for the teamspeak. Other than that, I guess you could say 5punk is making me buy more games (or *cough*pirate*cough*) which will in turn soon make me upgrade my PC.

I got a new decent headset (which I not long broke by making a wire loose somehow, probably by sitting on it) just for 5punk/Teamspeak. Also improved my gaming, so I'll be getting another one of those.

New spangly headset, 5punk Recommended (TM) mouse mat, new mouse.

Also has fuelled dreams of a graphics card/CPU/MOBO upgrade and buying a second monitor. Like I could afford it.

Well, I got an ATI Radeon 9550 for HL2 and CSS, which then led to 5punk. Which sort of counts.

Well, not really.

Well I haven't been with you peeps for long but it must be contageous. I NEED a new pc, (honest I've been considering it for a while.) Now here is where you can assist, should I get a flat screen keeping in mind that I really want to play games so want a decent refresh rate, or do I stick with the trusty old CRT. :?

I opted for a nice 19" flat screen CRT, but I've heard decent flat screens have good enough refresh rates for gaming now. I suppose it depends on how much room you have on your desk versus how much money you have to spuff on a monitor.

Yep, it's all down to personal preference and money really.

If you are unsure what to spend your hard earned cash on, then post in the hardware/software forums, as between all of us you should have a few good options of what to spend your beer tokens on
