Xfire and Battlefield 2

It seems that xfire reduces performance when playing BF2 (it may do with other games, but I haven't checked). I read somewhere on teh vast interweb that exiting xfire will increase framerates in Battlefield, and sure enough, it does. Not only that, but it seems to have gotten rid of a stuttering problem that Lee had.

Here's a topic on the xfire forums about it that Lee found: http://www.xfire.com/xf/modules.php?nam ... ic&t=27360

Turning off ingame messaging also seems to give the same performance boost as completely exiting xfire.

I think Xfire has something to do with the random crashes that also keep happening...

Yep, your best bet is to turn off in game messaging in any game you have issues with whilst using Xfire

Personally I haven't found any games that have issues whilst using in game browsing, but then again I don't play that many games :P

I played without Xfire on for a little while. It's slightly smoother, but the huge difference more me is the loading time. Still takes me ages to get into the game for some reason, but the map, shaders and the like load tonnes faster.

Gameplay is still isn't perfect, but I'm pretty sure it's my sucky radeon 9550.
