Grim lifts his head a little but doesn't break eye contact.
Grimmie, calling to Deejy Weejy wrote:Deject, see anything in there? Some of Dirk's stuff might be laying around.
He turns back, face rather expressionless.
Grimmie wrote:Where are the other boys and girls heading to? You seem like a big enough group to have some sort of escape plan if something like this ever happened.
Maybe we could keep out of your way in future, providing hunter sheets don't pop up for you too.
Since this place is littered with traps everywhere deej carefully steps as far to the right side of the door as poosibe, standing slightly turned, and gives the door a good wyank.
STR: 1,7 + 8 = 16
If that isn't sufficient, he'll give it a whack with the Long Knife.
Grimmie: One of the kids has broken down into incomprehensible gibbering. The other, who is older, glares at you.
Kid wrote:I dunno where they've gone, and I don't give a shit. Now Mama's dead I'll have to find some other way of getting by. Maybe I'll be an Op instead.
Deject: The door comes flying off its hinges, but nothing else happens.
Toast: Mama's corpse comes complete with a GASH Fist which looks in rather good condition. Probably recently stolen. She isn't carrying anything else other than a bit of cheap jewelery. However, while searching her you realise you might have had it easy. You noticed while hacking her head off that her skin was unreasonably tough, and dragging the corpse out of its chair and laying it out reveals her to be around seven feet tall. She's very heavy too.
I always get shit rolls with it. Anyway, in the overflow room there looks to be a trap door with a bolt on it on the floor, with the top of a pair of ladders poking through it. You can't see where they go. The puile of junk is the only other thing in the room, which upon closer inspection seems to be bags full of stolen gear. Most of it is indeed junk, but you find a few that clearly belonged to Operatives, from their contents.
It's dark down there. Not a lot shows up in IR, but switching to UV reveals what you'd imagine a Carriens nest to look like. Dismembered bodies lie in various states of decemposition all around the room, and seem to gather around a hole in the floor at the other end. The bodies look like children. Amongst them, scattered with no apparent method, are various devices ranging from surgical instruments to powered melee weapons. All are in terrible condition. Nothing appears to be alive. If you venture over to the hole, picking your way through the grisly remains, you peer into blackness. The bottom must be quite some way down, because you can't see it.
Oh damn. This must be that room the girl we caught was talking about. I don't think there could be more blood on the walls if Halloween Jack went through here. You know what Toast you crazy bastard? Shitting on her corpse is too good for that monster.
I'll gather up all the equipment from down here and head back up the ladder.
Alright, let's sort out anything the company will pay us for. The bounty on this bitch is too small.
Oh hey any of you guys heard from Spindle at all? He was supposed to be getting us some backup or something.
There's four bags. One is, if you're all looking in, obviously belonging to Dirk. Everything SLA related (ie, all missing stuff on his character sheet) is in there apart from the GASH Fist. The other bags contain a variety of firearms and melee weapons; 3x FEN 603s, 1x FEN 204, 1x FEN AR, 1x Vibro Sabre, 1x Bully Boy shotgun, and a variety of ammunition. In the junk pile there's also a dispersed suit of Blocker, about half a dozen doses of Kick Start, more ammo (mostly 10mm), and a climbing gear harness. There's also a few DN weapons, including a transparent bladed Vibro Sabre.
Dirk wrote:Looks like Mama purloined my Gash Fist - I'll be taking that back thank you.
Before we call the the Department in, I think we owe Lloyd a bit of footage. Let's secure this place and get a camera crew down. We've got our own video shots, but an on the scene report with us in the background should do us wonders. Just make sure there are no brutalised kiddies in shot.
Dirk to Lloyd Langley wrote:Thinking about it, let's get these two here to do a little camera piece for us. What do you say boys? We give you some creds and some starting contacts for being an Op, you tell the camera crews how we rescued you from a matriarchal tyrant. Trust me, not many people on Mort get chances like this. You could have a plush contract in no time once you're featured as a downtrodden aspiring Op, fighting your way up from the gutter.
Persuasion: 10,5,+4= 19
Hey Lloyd, we've got some damn fine footage for you here. Wait for us to secure the area then send the camera crew down - we've got Mama Krutch dead in the middle of her coven, with lots of juicy footage for the evening crowd. But first, let's discuss commissions. How much is your station willing to pay for this stuff? Furthermore, are they willing to sponsor us on any further work we do? I reckon this job alone should get some damn high viewing figures.
Persuasion: 6,9,+4 = 19 (how rare, different roll but same result)
Toast swings the head over his shoulder like Santas bag of goodies, and nods at the rest of the team.
Toast wrote:Thanks fuckos, its been fun. We should do this again some time, eh? Hey, pretty boy, I think this might be yours.
Toast bungs a (slightly singed) familiar looking hat towards Dirk, and stalks off back up the pipes towards the APC, leaving a trail of smoke.
EDIT: Catching what Dirk said before he gets out of earshot:
Toast wrote:Oh, hell yes. The cameras fucking love me, get me some of that shit.
Toast stalks back again, and leans against a wall smoking and swinging the head back and forth whilst he waits. Occasionally you think you can hear him talking to it.

Langley wrote:Awww, man! You shoulda told me earlier. I've camera teams that would've gone in with you. Well hey, never mind. Give me twenty minutes and a location and I'll have a crew there. If you've got some footage yourselves I might be able to work that commission up. We'll talk more when I see what you've got for me. Good work guys!
