See, I'm a tad confused as to which way I'm actually heading, so I was trying to get by with a "go where she went."

I could use another Grimmiesketch™ right about now. I guess downwards it is.

The tunnel leading off from the basement has a hole in the side of it about 30m further up. That hole leads into a vertical pipe with a ladder in it. The tracks look like she went down the ladder in the pipe, but the ladder also goes upwards and the tunnel that leads to it carries on going too.

As you descend you notice one of the rungs has wire around it. On closer inspection it seems to have been partially sawn through, and the wire ties to a toggle switch on a small electronic device. By the grime on its waterproof casing you'd say it has been there for a while.

I'll skip over that rung and stop temporarily when I get right below it to inspect the device a little better. If possible I'd like to try to cut the wire.

It's a little transmitter by the looks of it, although you're no expert.

What kind of roll would I need to make to cut the wire without tripping it?

Yep, you cut the wire without it pulling on the switch.

Hey guys watch out for this switch thing here, it's some kind of remote trigger or something. I cut the tripwire but the switch is still there.
I'll continue on down then. Any changes on my radar or motion scanners?

Both blank. You reach the bottom of the ladder where a tunnel continues horizontally again, but it's blocked after about a meter by a rather solid metal door. The door looks like one of the bulkheads many underground accessways have to stop flooding getting too far, and has a wheel on it.

Well, I guess there's not much else for me to do except try the wheel or turn back. I'll try turning the wheel.

Hah, not really. It turns a bit and the door feels to give more as though it would open if pushed. It feels heavy.

One question, how dark is it in here?

I'll try pushing the door open enough to get he A/V Stalk in the doorway.
