Grimmie gives a wince and stands back up, clutching his stomach, raking fingers across the rather dented armour.
Grimmie to Dirk wrote:Should we hop down and help? I still got my climbing gear if you wanna shuffle down on that and save your magic dealies for fire support.
Showman Totale, how much healies do you do to me?
I'm down to 6 from 14 on my torso.
Toast: The pipe looks surprisingly dry for something that obviously was designed to carry water to the 'river'. Its crumbly end opens into the huge open topped pipe, but the other direction just stretches off into the darkness. It looks fairly free of rubble, and there's no evidence of traps or mines as far as you can see.
Grimmie: No need for climbing gear to get down the lift shaft, it's only a 2m drop to the top of the car. Well, what's left of the car.
Deject: The mines don't look very complicated so probably need you to step on them to set them off. They should be fairly easy to step around now you know they're there. If you want to disarm them then you can make a demolitions disposal roll, or another mechanical based roll that might be appropriate. Anyone who wants a look at them can make a Rival Company Info roll.
You can if you like. On closer inspection they appear to be squat cylinders, like a couple of old film cans, with rows of holes around the edge. The one in the other room remained intact after it was triggered by the way. You could make a streetwise roll I suppose to see if you've heard of them on the black market.
They do indeed. You've heard of them and they are Darknight made. They get called CAF mines and cost a few hunderd uni, and aren't altogether uncommon on the streets. You've never seen one used, but you know that they hold dozens of 5mm CAF* rounds that fire off when triggered, and that they're re-usable.
*Calibre designed for civilian use, little more than pop-guns really
Grimmie wrote:Augh.. CAF Mines. Cheap and nasty. With the amount of money Mama drags in I wouldn't be surprised if this place was littered with the things. Watch your step guys.
Re-usable? As in, I can pick one up, fill it full of shrapnel and use it again, or in that we'd have to get cutlery-worrier Emile back to re-assemble them?
Grimmie wrote:I think perhaps this might have been what caused so much trouble for those stormers, they're not exactly know for their delicate, precise movement, are they?
i don't know, should we bother taking these with us or leave them. I don't trust these bodged-together devices at all. Everyone just watch out for these guys.
deej points them out and then carries on into the pipe.
The pipe is only a couple of meters in diameter and slopes gently upwards. Following it further you encounter, about 30m up the pipe, a hole that looks like it was blasted through the side of the concrete long ago. After about two feet of blasted concrete it appears to open into another tunnel, this one vertical. The tunnel you're in continues onwards.
Looks clear, and stepping into the crumbling concrete inbetween doesn't bring sharp explody death. The vertical tunnel on the other side has a rusty ladder running up and down it, with a metal manhole cover above and the bottom about 20m below you apparently running into another similarly sized but horizontal tunnel.
Suddenly I get the feeling of Alice chasing the white rabbit...
