I just caved and bought Zebra camo for me and my Magrider. For reference, there's a nice post
here showing all the infantry camo. Personally I think the bold patterns work best - the digital ones just blur into a solid colour at any range.

Also amusing last night was (I assume) the leader of the outfit thingy getting increasingly more irate at people not being on his vent channel or in his squads.

Nah, he was getting irate at the people in the Platoon Leadership channel (you buy access for 100 doofers, but inevitably it's full of 12 year old wannabe generals). He was poking people who were in the Squad to join Vent because it's difficult to coordinate if you're not, but there was no mention of what everyone else was doing.

Here's what the various units look like in Vanu Tiger camo. There's no preview, which is not very good, and pictures aren't easy to come by at the moment. I'd like to also put these somewhere more prominent like the PS2 Wiki for other people deciding whether to spend £4 on camo they haven't even seen yet, but here'll do for now.
Infantry
MAX
Flash
Lightning
Magrider
Sunderer
Scythe
Liberator
Galaxy

Gentlemen, we have our assignment.

I do think it's actually quite nice looking, even with the garish purple and white look. That said I also plan to pimp my magrider with under chassis lighting too. Shame I can't put a spoiler on it. Be aware, the vehicle and infantry camo are separate (and £4 each), as is the weapon camo. Who would spend £4 on camo for a gun only you will see is beyond me.
Regarding Station Cash, for those who haven't looked into it, you can buy cosmetics and weapons with them but not equipment. Certs can buy you weapons and equipment but not cosmetics. So if you want the camo you have to shell out, if you want the upgrades you have to play. The weapons, by the way, are much of a muchness really - trade off damage for rate of fire, things like that. There's not a lot in the way of actual upgrades. The Hades AT launcher I bought actually does less damage than the default one, but is guided.

I'd argue that point, narf. The two upgrades I've purchased for my Infiltrator have added a great deal to my utility. The first is an upgraded sniper rifle which, while bolt action, is a guaranteed one shot kill (assuming I don't shoot them in the foot). The second is a medium range automatic "scout" rifle; something the Inf doesn't have access to normally, and being limited to a pistol or snip0r rifle can prove a headache in all-out defence situations.
They aren't necessary, but I wouldn't like to be without them now.

Maybe it's just heavies then, or maybe I've not researched it enough. I get the impression, though, that all the LMGs are pretty similar. Wouldn't mind a go on the Lasher. In fact, you can get a 30min trial of any weapon so I might give it a whirl.

Convoys are fun, We just rolled through a few areas capturing everything with very, very little resistance, can't imagine why.

I still love this game. Things from last night:
A server message stating that five 'hacking scumbags' had been banned and that they were keeping on looking for more, to appreciative comments from those around me.
Some impressive Maggie mountaineering leaving me high above an enemy base in my floaty tank, much to the surprise of the Scythe pilots buzzing around. Tank ninja climbing is quickly turning into a great sport.
Splitting from a tank rush (kekeke) I considered that I was part of a small splinter horse attacking a nearby base en-route to a larger facility. Until I took not of what my small horse actually consisted of - around four Magriders and a couple of Sunderers, with four Scythes, a couple of Liberators and a Galaxy flitting around above us. That's at least 13 people, potentially up to 52. In a game of Battlefield 3 that would be a large horse.
Fucking bus drivers need to watch their driving. On several occasions last night my Maggie was rammed by a friendly Sunderer and sent skittering sideways. One did the same to another Magrider ahead of me and got a shot in the back doors for its lack of consideration for other road users.
I carried a gunner about for a good half an hour last night, an infiltrator I picked up on the road early on, who told me I was the best Magrider driver he'd seen. Since we tended to turn up late to most attacks and only bagged half a dozen or so infantry kills I can only assume that's because I like to fly sideways and use my patented 'MagCrab' manoeuvre to climb mountains. Or possibly it's because I didn't go charging into the middle of an enemy base, mowing down friendly infantry on the way, to get hammered by AT rockets and die within seconds, like most Maggie drivers seem to do.
In the end I was taken out by an enemy gunship's rockets when I doubled back to defend a camp we'd zerged not long earlier. Air support is more important than I had previously thought.

Have you tried pointing it at aircraft instead?

Would that be the Ghost rifle? I upgraded to that and spent a merry half hour one shotting everything that poked its head in my direction - AND the bolt action is pretty damn quick so that if you do manage to hit them in the toe you can still finish them off quick.

No, I went both barrels and got the V10 and the Artemis.

Doesn't lock on, it's the other one that does aircraft. That would have probably been more useful in hindsight, since I'm not a bad shot with a plasma round anyway.

To be fair the default helmet does make you look like a sex toy.

I'm slowly getting the hang of this now. Last night managed 5 kills for 3 deaths, which is progress. Also bought the Ghost sniper rifle but I've not had chance to test it out yet.

Last time I checked, and I've done a whole lot more dying since, my K:D was 0.7. I do tend to play medic most of the time though and have my mediccing stuff out more than my rifle so I can't defend myself.
I was shot down by a team mate yesterday, which in itself is not that unusual - but I had been healing him back to full health when he did it, I can only assume he was a new player and thought my healing beam was some laser gun, however I prefer to think of him/her/it as a fucktard and I can picture the conversation he had in his head, goes a bit like this:
It: "hur hur, fucking noob, green lazor beams not even hitting me"
Game: "stop shooting team mates dick head"
It: "hur hur, just standing there still can't hit me with that beam thing, L2P nabcake"
Game: "You've killed a team mate you fuck head"
It: "Lul, wut?"
Game: "..."

So does the tiger camo. Skull helmet is on my shopping list.
