That is also possible, as I also suspect it could be possible the previous killer was the copycat and the original is still out there. We really need to gather more information on our victims I think and get a better idea of why they were chosen.

Before we leave the first scene, deject shows the picture of the killer from the CCTV footage to the Downtowner.
I'll also do a Streetwise roll to see if maybe I know the guy, and a Computer Use to try and do some facial (hehe) recognition. Anyone else with high Streetwise should take a look too.
Streetwise: 2, 4 + 3 = 9
Computer Use: 3, 9 + 4 = 16
I just have one more quick question for you, real quickly. Do you recognize this guy at all?

Well none of you recognise him, but the Downtowner stares long and hard.
The Shiver databases turn up hundreds of matches, but only one from anywhere near here. Reginald Fleet. There's an address and photo. He's not smiling in it.Lower Downtowner wrote:I've never seen the guy, but I've heard of him. I don't know his name but some folk have seen him around. Kind of conspicuous, a guy with that crazy smile. I heard that he cut his face up to make the grin bigger.

Well, thanks human.
Alright, so I'd think the facial match is pretty good evidence. I want to go check out this Reginald Fleet. We could split up. Dirk and Spindle are already on their way to check in with the shivers. We might still find something at the other scenes, we all know how thorough shivers are. How about Grimmie and Eraser come with me, Phoebe and K'trr can continue checking out the crime scenes?
It takes all of you a while to get around, since there are no taxis this far down.
Dirk/Spindle: You've seen Lower Downtown Shiver stations before. They're like fortresses, and this one is no different. Making your way in through the double gates, you get the distinct impression the building isn't here so that citizens can report crimes. Coming into contact with the Shivers finally, a sergeant greets you at the entrance.
Phoebe/K'trr: Going to the first crime scene, you find it to be above a bar. Notable by being one fo the few places of business you've seen down here, and also by the fact it's in slightly better condition. You also notice a small CCTV camera in the entrance, which the footage was undoubtably taken from. The door leading up to the apartment is locked and taped off by the Shivers, but the bar is open.
Deject/Grimmie/Eraser: Fleet's address is in a rundown building that was probably once offices for some production facility. One of a long set of rotting doors in a windowless corridor. The door is locked, but even knocking on it betrays its flimsiness.

I am Dirk from SLA squad Five Punk, and this is my colleague Spindle. We're here investigating the recent killings in which the victims faces have been mutilated. Is there anyone overseeing the investigation here? I would also like to see the bodies for myself. I have my own forensics kit but any other facilities you have would be most appreciated.

I'll do a quick search over to see if the door is booby trapped. Grimmie has flashbacks of shotguns behind doors now and then.
Detect
8,4 +5 = 17
If I'm clear of traps and anyone inside, I'll give it a sharp boot and chuck my IR goggles down
Strength
6,4 +10 = 20

I'll give the door a couple of knocks and check my motion sensor - I should be close enough that if anything inside moves I'll see it.Grimmie to Deject wrote:Looks like a classy place.
If he's inside then we better keep our wits about us.

Dirk:
You don't see any sign of any traps, and there's no answer when knocking. A swift kick sees the door crumble from its hinges.
Inside the apartment, you're confronted with more damp and filth. A basic bed and cooking facilities are in this room, with a small bathroom with grimy shower and toilet the only other room. A pile of empty cans and discarded food packets is the only sign that the apartment hasn't been abandoned for years. Writing covers the walls, mostly insane gibbering about demons and ghosts.

Grimmie pulls a face in frustration.
Grimmie wrote:Wanna toss cameras up on the offchance this guy hasn't left for good?
Might'a caught wind that we were after him and ran off.
Think you can grab a few pictures with your forehead-camera and send them to the rest of the team to see if they see anything similar with the writing on the wall, Deej'?

There's not a lot of stuff to look through. The very minimum needed to keep him alive and reasonably clean, a broken TV, a dirty mattress. It looks like the place has been robbed, only there's no signs of an actual robbery.
Following the rambling text, it seems to flow chronologically, telling of, amongst other things, gruesome killings both recent and old. Targets are singled out for imagined slights, obsessed upon, then slain. There are probably a dozen of these. The final piece of writing refers to what appears to be a girl called Lucinda Powell, and details of her home, work, habits, appearance, and friends can all be found among the insane rambling.

Right, screw the last crime scene, that victim isnt getting any deader. I say we try to catch up with the next victim, this Lucinda person, and follow her until Mr Smiley turns up. Me and Phoebe head for her work, you guys at the fellas house head to her place, the rest of you stick with the shivers, see if they know anything about her maybe?
