You can install pretty much anything on to non-Windows partitions (and you can move some special folders like My Documents around using TweakUI).

That said, I personally don't see that disk partitioning really offers much benefit to a typical user (unless they're going to be booting multiple operating systems).

Usually you can install onto any/drive partition, but some apps might not like it so much (can be kind of random IME)


As far as partitioning goes, I like it if you are gonna end up with windows on a huge drive, it makes your other stuff a little safer if you have to format and such. (doesn't protect from dead/dying HDDs though)

i think it's a seagate one, it didn't come with any discs though

no crashes so far

moved about 30gb to my other drive

*still says that HD is not necessarily fubar* even more so if safe mode fixed it enough to retrieve 30gb of data. I still put my money on format = completely reliable hard drive

Taking the pertinent (and i use the term loosely) points of that 'argument', how do you know the symptoms are the same? Answer is, you don't, therefore it isn't a sturdy foundation, it IS opinion, your right there, it is not fact and therefore you=fail.

i am not arguing because i think i am right, i am arguing because i think that it is wrong to put something in the bin just because it MIGHT fail. Yes i agree that it might put anything that resides on HD in jeopardy, but surely if you have data that you can't afford to loose you would back it up on another storage device anyway?
