Dirk wrote:We've found what looks like a Manchine. It appears to be down for the moment, but I really have no idea if it's still functioning - keeping it covered for the time being rather than attempting to prod about with it. I'm guessing it's some sort of infiltration unit - no scythes, live flesh and, well, not looking like a Manchine until you open it up.
We're going to have a look around the rest of the facility, but what do you want us to do with this? I'm sure you'll want it for study, but I'll feel a lot safer it we remove its head.

I'm getting on to Risikko straight away, hopefully out of ear shot.

Risikko wrote:Good! Try to keep it intact, our techs want to study it. It's not a manchine, in fact it isn't even intelligent. Remote controlled, rudimentary holding pattern AI for when it's out of comms. Did you get the controller? We've not managed to find one yet. Can't be far off, they can only receive short range signals.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
Can I use my oyster as a signal tracker?
Definitely want to check all the dead bodies, and we probably could have done more to check the van we were chasing. I'd say Hal should probably head back and see if there's anything left while the rest of us finish up at the warehouse.

Not unless you have some attachment and software to do it with. Which you probably don't because I've never put any in the game, however I like the idea.deject wrote:Can I use my oyster as a signal tracker?

Yeah, I would put money on that van being used somehow to pilot roboman. I've got bum all electronics skills though, I'm not sure I could tell you anything beyond "yup, its a van with computer things in it." Plus, I'm not sure that leaving their alleged base of operations unwatched is necessarily a good idea.
I could always ask the fella about it though. Im going to go softly softly to start with.

There's enough gear at the workshop to build another, or most of it, but the drone's kaput too now so this operation's boned. Hey wait, how do you know what it is? Shit, you guys knew all about it? I knew I shouldn't have got involved in this deal. Fuck.

You know, I really think we need to jump on this base of theirs asap. If things have gone as pear shaped for them as matey boy here is making out, I think there is a good chance they will now be packing up their stuff and getting ready to skidaddle. If we don't get a move on, we may end up discovering the place where the bad guys had been until recently, rather than the place they are right now.
And by we, I mean you lot

I'll leave Dirk in Eraser's safe and scaly hands, and make my way over to Hal and Deject by whatever transport solutions I have available to me.
If possible, I'll seclude myself somewhere safe and out of the way, higher up than the chain-link fence if possible so I can take potshots if it goes to shit.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
You can get there by taxi without much trouble. On the way there the driver has to take a detour to avoid a large mob who are harassing a Shiver APC (with seemingly little effect). At the location there are plenty of buildings around. The lowest are only ten or fifteen storeys and would probably offer a good view from the roof.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
I've just realised I misunderstood something a while back - I thought the base the suit was talking about was the one I was searching around. Durrr.
Right then, if Risikko can get someone down here to stick this Mandrone in a safe and secure box, myself and Eraser can head over to you lot.
Also, can we find out how this suit got involved with TT? Would be interesting to know how they're recruiting people.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
I'll try and get up the easy way first (ie.stairs, fire escapes out of line of sight) and by climbing-kit if those aren't available.
Will position myself prone on the roof and start peering around the place with my monocular, I don't suppose I'll see anything that hasn't already been spotted, but I might roll something revoltingly high. Never know.
Detect
7,2 +5 = 14
Or not.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
You can get up there pretty easily through the stairs, the lock to the roof looks to have been forced years ago. The view from up there doesn't reveal much more than the roof of the maintenance workshop, which is solid and clear.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
I guess I should scope out entrances.
First, I'll try looking up blueprints on my oyster.
Computer Use (4): 8, 3 + 4 = 15
and I'll also try a visual inspection as well.
Detect (4): 4, 2 + 4 = 10 bah

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
Plans show just the one entrance from here, however there is also passage to the core of the shaft, which can in turn be accessed from lower levels.

I think I'll wait for the squad to group up together before trying anything.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
As soon as the Mandrone is picked up I'll get a taxi over to you chaps (but not right outside the front door, obviously).
