You don't know what manchines are? They're robots that are covered in rotting flesh. They're twice as fast as me, twice as strong as you, smarter than all of us combined, ridiculously skilled with all types of weapons, and fucking insane. If we had to fight one one of us would probably die.

Grimmie eases up to Eraser and widens his eyes, clutching at the stormer's shoulders with both hands.
Grimmie wrote:FREAKIN' MANCHINES, MAN! FREAKIN' MANCHINES!
He thusly calms down and brushes a few smudges from his armour, taking a step back.
Grimmie wrote:What's there not to be scared of? They take bits of you, and slap them on bits of them.
I mean, if that's a stormer's idea of a walk in the park on a sunny day then let's go see Digger!
He pauses, and then starts chewing at his lower lip nervously, regretting that suggestion.
Grimmie wrote:I'm not serious, by the way. I really don't want to do that.
It's just that we had a run in with them a little while back. I didn't like it.

To answer your question Eraser, yes, we have been up against a Manchine before. Deej is holding back on the details due to the sensitive nature of the BPN we were on, but as you, Phoebe and Cutter and now part of our squad it only seems fair to bring you up to speed.

We were sent to Lower Downtown where there had been several attacks on Shiver units. We eventually discovered a Manchine cult was in the area. They'd been killing Shivers and taking their equipment. We followed one low level cultist to the their hideout.

Whilst in there we came up against some tough customers - they looked modified in some way and bore an uncanny resemblance to the guys who shot up the 10k Rads. They nearly took out our old squad leader, Gerald, who was also a Stormer, so make no mistake about what we're up against.

I think we must have been lucky that day, because it was only when we got down there we realised there was actually a Manchine orchestrating the whole thing. I say lucky because we don't think it was fully operational - it ran off once it's cultists were dropped. I doubt we'd be stood here today if it were fully powered.

Which leads us to the present. Chrome Warriors being recruited and upgraded, DarkNight seemingly following the same investigative route we are, and a name from the past involved in a project that sounds like it's made him mad as hell and twice as dangerous.

The way I see it, we follow up the Manchine, we find out what happened to the 10k Rads. So let's stop bickering and get a move on. First off I reckon we try and track down Wade - he's the only solid lead we've got so far.
Edit: goddamit Grimmie, you're supposed to be cooool

Phoebe to all wrote:Right, thanks for filling us in Dirk. Sorry you guys had to go through such an ordeal... I'm pretty honoured to be working with such a group of bad asses. Sounds like you learned a lot from the experience though, and that should prepare us for whatever the hell we are up against here.

So we follow the lead on Wade? How do we go about doing that?

Just so you all know, Cloak and Internal Affairs are keeping the lid on this. If you speak about it to anyone, we are all dead. If I find out, I will kill you myself and whoever you talked to. I take my life seriously and the last thing that's going to happen to me is being taken down because some fresh op can't keep their mouth shut. If you can keep it within the squad then we can be best friends, and I'd rather not have to deal with fighting any more operatives.

Right, how are we going to track down Jacobson? He has to be getting power for his augmentations from somewhere. I'll look up power sources around here that could sustain a chrome warrior, maybe that could help locate him.

There's plenty of small industrial units in the sector which would have more than just domestic supply. You don't know how much power is needed though.

Can you guys think of anything to cross check the power sources with? The list is too big and if we can narrow it down we might be in luck.

:D I aaammmm, was discussing with pants as to a story why Grimmie is freaked out by Manchines.
Came to the conclusion that they feature heavily in one of his hyper-realistic videogames, and have brainwronged him a little.

I'm still coo' 8)

At least this way you get to SPEND the money you make at the end. Should get some nice bounties if we finish off some real big nasties.
Grimmie shrugs at Deject and reloads his gun, sorting through his allotted loot afterwards.

I would think any "known" DN or TT locations would have been taken out already, but I guess it's worth a look.

Nope, you're right. A search comes up blank; if SLA finds out about a rival company installation it usually doesn't last long.

deej walks over to the chrome vet he was talking to earlier.
Hey man I have another question for you. How much power would a guy like Wade Jacobson need to power his implants? I'd guess he was more extensively augmented than most of you guys here, but figuring out power requirements isn't exactly what I trained for.

Phoebe looks at Deject with a smirk....
Just joking with you man... So cross referencing hmm? Well they need power and probably a place to rebuild etc. Maybe defunct maintenance facilities, factories, power plants?
(was just going to say to ask one of the warriors about power too :p)

Vet wrote:Well, all depends on what he wants to do. Mains will power our optics, electronic stuff like that, and give the guys with skeletal servo upgrades limited movement. Given an industrial three-phase supply and a bit of conversion I reckon the power stuff could run better than it did originally. I'm no tech though, so I could be wrong. He'd still be wired to the wall though. He'd need new power cells to put him back in fighting form. Originally they put in micro C-fusion cells, same stuff you guys have in your armour, and as you know they only last ten thousand hours. Well you can reduce that by two thirds for constant use, and add on the fact that the zero point was all fucked up when they installed them, and ten months later we're all cripples. So, finding a new power supply from a suit of armour ain't too hard, in theory at least, but the surgery to replace it is probably a bitch.

Yeah that's probably it. That also means that whoever's working with Wade would need another cell every 9 months or so. For now I think it's safe to assume that all the chrome warriors that Wade has with him are good enough to go. The have no less than 3 new power cells, and they will probably shoot us on sight like they did to 10k Rad. Thanks for the info.
I'll focus my power source search for three-phase sources, and I'd also like to do a search for known black market armor or power cell dealers. If I need another roll, you can do that for me DP.

Everyone who has Rival Company, can you see if you know if Tek Trex use those same powercells as well? They are robot makers after all.

A good point as well! I shall search for backstreet surgeons as well.
