The addict is right, let's get a move on. In fact we should dump her out real soon so she doesn't snap out of it with a bunch of ops around.

Toast flicks the stub of his cig vaugely rearwards, and drives off at speed, shouting and swearing at other road users, pedestrians, buildings, the rain...

It takes about 10 minutes with Toast's driving, and while the girl looka a bit less spaced out she's still not quite all there.

Right I think we should kick her out right now. Hey Pyroman, open the hatch.

Spindle leans on the bar and towards the barman, in aid to make sure the rest of the bar don't hear what he's about to say...
Spindle Winston wrote:Cheers buddy. Well, One of my Op buddys had a lot of his gear stolen. We found it it was by a bunch of kids called Mama's boys, a collection of youngsters being controlled by a powerful old woman called Mama Kutch and I was hoping to get some back up from maybe some of the guys round here, as it seems she's ah very sought after Woman, if you know what ah mean...

Is that a southern drawl?
Barman wrote:Ahhh, I got ya. Well you're right about the Mama's Boys - the guys here hate the little bastards. They've been a vicious little thorn in The Spectres' side for a couple of years now, and what's more they're turning into a nasty feeder gang for some of the pretenders in this sector. KT don't like being pushed around, so they're pushing back. Don't know what Hurrell makes of the boys blowing kids away, but nobody's complained so far.

Well at least slowing down is probably good.

Barman wrote:An Op with a drinking habit huh? That's almost a cliche. Look, I don't think you'll be able to get these guys to help you 'cos they don't respect nobody, but if you can give them a good enough reason to think there's an advantage to it then you might stand a chance. You gotta get one of 'em to talk to you first though. Me, I'm on old 99er so I gots no beef with Ops, but these kids'd shoot you soon as look at you, and the only reason they ain't done is either 'cos you're talking to me or 'cos they don't think you're worth the effort.

I am genuinely curious as to how well Spindle gets on.
Also, assuming that Toast stops briefly, I'll take the girl out of the APC and drop her off, then tell Toast to go find a place to stick his APC so we can continue on foot.

I'm assuming you're near the Waterfront then. It's difficult to actually get the APC into the area, as the top of the tunnel appears to have collapsed long ago and taken some of the buildings that were built there with it. This leaves what could pass as a man-made river raging for about half a mile through the middle of the sector, with both temporary (but very old) SLA built and crude impromptu bridges, and very wobbly looking buildings overhanging the gap being shored up by equally wobbly looking supporting beams.

Toast gives Dirk a funny look, and simply points at the side of the APC, just next to the door. In crudely painted big red letters, it says:

Someone could stay here and watch it but whatever you decide we should do it quick.

The girl doesn't move immediately. She stands around blinking and looking spaced out for a bit. Then she goes and sits between some bins and cries for a little while. Eventually though she sets off down the Waterfront, picking her way through the ruined buildings.

I'll keep a fairly long distance between me and the girl.
