I hoping they weren't just a distraction and that the rest of them aren't back at the warehouse I'm currently poking my nose around...

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
Well since no one has posted in a couple days, can I assume that we're just carting the alive dude to Dirk and Eraser for interrogation?

Um ... you could assume that, but you would be wrong
I missed that the guy had responded though, sorry about that.
Hal will let the others know where we are going, so they can meet us there. He will start driving that way.

TT Suit wrote:Uh, I dunno maybe half a dozen geeks and same again security. Dunno how many of the security guys bought it at the meeting so there might be a few more or less, but there was never more than a dozen or so of them total. They got drones too, though. Be careful man, some are rigged with grenades. The boss man might be there if you're lucky, but I doubt it. He only turns up every now and then and always unannounced. He knows the big plan, he's the only one with any contact with HQ. Back entrance? Dunno, might be. I never used one but I didn't wander far. All the surgery and stuff, ugh, and the security guys were a bit unhinged. I mostly avoided the whole place.

I hope Dirk is searching slowly
Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
Results of your search, posted from Babbage's machine back before the chase. You've finished now.Dog Pants wrote:Holy frijoles! I'll have to invent some extra clues for you. Isn't that nice?
This will probably take the duration of the chase and then some, but I'll post it now anyway so you can mull it over.
The Snappers seem to have got through the firefight unharmed. Not too surprising, the three Hal and Eraser saw earlier are there in their big powersuits, as well as half a dozen more in what looks like beefed up Blocker. Scattered around are half a dozen or so corpses with varying degrees of perforation. Four are armoured in cheap Blocker rip-offs and carrying DN assault rifles. Another is wearing a suit and looks to have fared pretty badly on the end of no small volume of buckshot. The last looks unarmoured, but on closer inspection appears to be mechanical.

I have no idea how I managed to miss that.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
Assuming he is not bullshitting us: We are looking at at least half a dozen goons (about a dozen total, half a dozen dead at the meet) plus some sort of grenade drones and shooty drones. Plus geeks, and probably something horrible that Pants hasn't told us about
Enjoy your fighting guys!
I'll park up at a closeish but safe distance (erring on the safe side). If I can do it in a way that lets me see the place without it being obvious that I'm watching it, I will do so, and I'll make sure the team know where we are so they can come meet us. I'll inform matey that I'll let him go as soon as we have confirmation that this is the right place.

By "let him go" you mean "let him go to SLA interrogation goons to disappear and never be heard from again" right?Joose wrote:Assuming he is not bullshitting us: We are looking at at least half a dozen goons (about a dozen total, half a dozen dead at the meet) plus some sort of grenade drones and shooty drones. I'll meet up with the rest of the team so we can do this thing. We should give Risikko an update on where we're at though.
Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
The power shaft is a geothermal vent which runs from miles into the planet's crust and up through the city, making steam at the bottom and driving huge turbines all the way up. There are plenty of them around the city and normally they are pretty well secured, but as with anything in Downtown they get neglected. As such there's not a lot close by, a chain link fence with razor wire marks a clear perimeter about 50m around it with floodlights and cameras, of which about a third of the former are working and presumably even fewer of the latter. Signs on the fence which haven't been graffitied read variously HIGH VOLTAGE and NO TRESPASSING. Parking up in a junk strewn alleyway (alas no cardboard boxes survive long outdoors on Mort) leaves you fairly concealed as far as you can judge with a good view of what the suit indicates is the maintenance bay, a squad concrete bunker huddled up against the 200m diameter column.Joose wrote:I'll park up at a closeish but safe distance (erring on the safe side). Hal is a man of his word. Unfortunately for Matey, Hal was brought up as a street trader in Mort, so the word in question is probably "bullshit".deject wrote:By "let him go" you mean "let him go to SLA interrogation goons to disappear and never be heard from again" right?

I'm waiting on you lot. Hal is a lover, not a fighter. Which is a nice way of saying he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and a stiff breeze could send him to hospital.

I would like a "We're right behind you" before heading into the explody-bot, armored bad guy infested facility.Joose wrote:I'm waiting on you lot. Hal is a lover, not a fighter. Which is a nice way of saying he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and a stiff breeze could send him to hospital.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
Depending upon where everyone else is, I want a closer look at the mechanical one - but I'm not doing that if I think there's any chance of it eating my face. Ideally we need guns pointing at it and Eraser stood on it.Dog Pants wrote:The Snappers seem to have got through the firefight unharmed. Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
There are some Snappers still nearby, but they're forming up to leave. They don't seem to be paying you much attention.

Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
Eraser is still at the warehouse with Dirk, so will keep an eye on the robot, but you will have to keep reminding him NOT to remoe the head to make sure, unless you don't want it intact.
Re: SLA Industries: Hunting the Machine
As far as you can tell it looks like a Manchine. Entirely robotic skeleton, but with living flesh on the outside. Except that this one actually looks human when not damaged, and doesn't have the crazy scythes. It's dressed and armed similarly to the dead gunmen who are scattered about.
