Sorry, I've lost the plot again and as chaotic as my life is at the moment I probably wouldn't be much use even I hadn't. I'll look in on what Deej found though and try to be of some help.

My place is a bad idea. You wouldnt like it.

Im thinking this place was a red herring. We are looking for doods in blue robes, and this place is full of doods in blue robes, but theres nothing to suggest they are the same doods in blue robes. Shit, at the moment dject is a dood in a blue robe. I vote we give this place up and move on to the next suspect location.

Pete, mind refreshing us on the places we were told about, just as a quick list? I remember the fatory was one, and that funny place with a metaplanar library in it was another, but there was a third one too. Im sure I could find it, but i cant be arsed to spazz back that far.

In the meantime, we could go back to Deej's flat to gather ourselves and prep for the next place.

I remember that it wasn't a bar. I was going to check it out but got confused. I'm wondering if my own incomprehensible patoir isn't helping.

HereComesPete wrote:The addresses Anytime sent you are-

A small magic shop a few miles from the club, it doesn't appear to have a name or opening times listed anywhere.

A warehouse on the docks - registered to one of the minor corps, listed as producing specialist machine parts for ruggedised building machinery. Anytime's notes simply state 'no idea about this one, source who spotted 'blue elf in robe' (his words) unreliable.'

The Crying Wall. Anytime's note 'doubtful a blue robed elf would want or get access to the underground, maybe he was just catching up on some bad vibes. Try asking for an ork named Ghallo.'

The Charles Royer Station. Anytime's note - 'not sue if he caught the train or used the helipad, regular first and last point of contact.'

The file has a short plan of action suggestion from Anytime attached.

Code: Select all

Here's how I'd try it.

The warehouse, always good for an ambush is a warehouse. Has the robe even been there though? Informant is a drunk with a bit of a thing for deepweed, so he may have just been on a bit of a trip when he saw the 'blue elf'. Still, no stoner unturned right?

Likely the mage sells drek to fools in daylight hours. I'd go there after dark myself, but you guys are strong in mojo so you could go whenever, far more likely to learn something from gentle pressure, push too hard he'll likely drop the shop defences, whatever they are.

The Crying Wall. Possibly just taking some time off, but an acquaintance suggested blood magic may have a way of draining negative energies to buff powers, this place is obviously rammed with massively potent bad juju. Pay the ork what he asks and he'll leave you alone so you can test theories and try a few spells if you think you need to.

The station is the targets definite area entry point, this is where you'll pick him up, suggest leaving this until you've learned what he's been up to everywhere else. If he surfaces here you'll find out a few seconds after I do, I've got eyes on.

Keep me informed.

Good hunting.

This is the brief Anytime sent to you all. You met in the bar with the well of wyrd sign outside.

You have visited the magic shop and the warehouse.

I'll end this run before you go to your next location and do that separately. It's getting too epic scale.

I'll post up everything you know in both in depth and tl;dr formats.

Okay, I'll finish this now. It's only about ten months old.

Karma - I'll award it even for those who have decided to retire their char.

Alvrin - For being terribly persistent at the factory and for not getting his head smashed in whilst in the library - 20 karma.

Firenza - For being rather nice to Anytime and for some researching - 20 karma.

Jasper - for the jokes, the incomprehensible accent, wooing the ork bar maid and for researching - 20 karma.

Jon - for putting up with the indignity of no chair to sit on and getting his head smashed in by wandering off against advice - 20 karma.

Lex - professionalism in the face of giant bat creatures, killing lots of things and saving the recumbent form of Jon from the insect swarm - 20 karma.

That's right, it is a lot. But like I said :above: it's taken rather longer than I expected.

*************************************************************

The factory - there was nothing blood mage to be found. It has a few ties to some areas where it's used but the deepweed junkie who gave Anytime the lead saw a guy in one of the robes Alvrin was running about in.

The magic shop - the mage has been here and dropped of an artifact of tremendous power, you don't know how much power yet. Phlegastus is some kind of planar spirit, the library you went in was an extra-planar dimension. The creatures were just bats and other small winged beasts, it was mainly everyone's fear that created the huge beasts.

You now have two other areas to explore -

The Crying Wall - a large monument to an atrocity and supposed entrance to the ork underground. More here.

The Charles Royer Station. The likely entrance/exit vector of the mage is the station. It does local, national and international links. It's been around a very long time, in the middle is the old railway station around it has spread a large area of differing transport stops.

Please let me know if you're retiring your char, if you want to replace it and Pnut will be going with you on the next run as he's the only person who's pestered me to do so.

Any questions?

Phew, epic man, epic!

I am retiring Firenza. I'll send over new char's sheet either tonight or tomorrow once I've finished it off.

Well at least we did something. I should have guessed the factory was a goose chase when we found out all the guys wearing blue robes were just workers. Oh well.

Just so we're clear, we are still in the middle of the run, no spending karma yet right?

Spend away. Technically you're mid run but it's been a bit long. I intend (hopefully, maybe) to keep them almost as short as the first run and not have a sprawling uber arc in a single run.

Right, finished my sheet, just need to type up the background now. Do you want them both at the same time, or can the background wait?

As you like. I'm not going to hurry the next one as I've got a bit of re-writing and the stuffer shack report.

I'm going to hang on to Jasper, you never know when you'll need a crazy voodoo mage. I'm not sure whether to persevere with him because I like the character, if not the numbers, or haul in Mo, my Orc violent type (combat mage possibly), or give it a rest until I'm a bit more stable. At any rate, do you want to subtract the over-spent points from Jasper's karma to level him out?

:?

Bit lost with what you mean by that. Jasper wasn't over-spent iirc it was just the armour was a bit too much for him and he took a hit to reaction and agility. If you wear the jacket you will be slowed down, but if you're possessed by one of your spirits you won't be given the increased stats you'll get. Up to you. As far as I'm aware you didn't overspend and you can have the full 20 karma.

Roman - take ten karma for your new char, you'll have to hang on to it until after the run is over however.

Fine by me - would have been a right pain the knackers to rejig it with a further 10 points.

I've used all 20 karma to boost the Athletics SG from 3 to 4.

I got confused, pretty much the theme for the run for me. Anyway, with 20 karma I could probably fill over the cracks in Jasper (and, say, buy some spells to cast). So even though I'll be living in chaos for another month or so I reckon I'll only miss the first bits of dialogue at the rate we go, and since I've rather enjoyed the bits when I had a clue what was happening I'll try to stick with it. Assuming I've not been written off and there's no room for me, I'm happy to move over for fresh beards to have a go.

Roman - how goes the back story?

Fab - if you need any help with spending karma for Jon gimme a poke.

Pants - perfectly happy to keep you & extra people in the next run. I do enjoy Jasper so I'm glad he's still running. Realise you're mad busy so downtime as and when you can plz!

Deej - thanks for the update.

Joose has new guy, he will be revealed in due course. I'm currently working on how to work it in, I will likely do something that I later regret (example being the pm's for the first run)

Pnut - Got your char and I think back story, if you didn't send back story please do.

Everyone - In terms of working out down time jobs/things you want to buy etc, have a read of the custom rules in the wiki and give me a poke about costings etc.
