I appear to have fallen out with all the CSIs, so I'm finding lots of room for extra shows :)

How Earth Made Us
This started the other day, the first of five. Lovely to look at and quite interesting. It focuses on how the geology, climate, environments, etc. of the Earth have shaped human society and evolution.

More importantly ...

Newswipe Season 2 started on Tuesday. First of six.

How Earth Made Us was rather good. But I also found that he flitted about like a crack riddled mayfly. He barely touched on some of the awe inspiring wonders that Earth has created before buggering off around the world to point at something else that was mind boggling.

Still bloody good though.

Did anyone watch Archer or whatever it is?

I saw most of the first 2 Archers. /shrug

There's a new show on Starz (a pay cable channel if you didn't know) called Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Looks like something that definitely needs to be :sweep:

Archer's not bad, but imho it's borderline South Park humour.

I watched the first episode of Spartacus: Blood and Sand. It seems to be Spartacus (1960) done in 300 style with lots more blood splatter. The first episode should have been called Spartacus: Blood and Tits which I quite liked...

drunken mind dump:

CSIs: bored
psych: meh, decent, but slow
24: passable, but samey
chuck: still entertaining
bones: same old
house: decent enough
ice pilots: like ice road truckers, but with planes.
castle: still good
human target: silly action fun, entertains
burn notice: awesome
no reservations: when do I get my shellfish tower?

Anyone watching Caprica?
Set 58 years before Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families - the Graystones and the Adamas - as they grow, compete, and thrive in the vibrant world of the peaceful 12 Colonies, living in a society close to our own. Entangled in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe, blending action with corporate conspiracy and sexual politics. Caprica will deliver, intrigue, political backbiting and family conflict in television's first science fiction family saga.
I've watched the first 3 episodes and its kept my interest. Nawt awesome, but pretty good. Eric Stolz is the main toon and I've always liked him as an actor. The cylon cgi is pretty good. The newness factor is still in effect.

I didn't watch BSG so can't comment on comparisons.

I've not got around to watching Caprica yet, but I've got issues with the timescales.

The Cylon war mentioned as being 40 years before BSG, and lasted for 12 years (according to this.) which leaves a six year gap from when Caprica is set (58 years before BSG according to the blurb).

Caprica is going to show how the Cylons were created and by my reckoning, 6 years isn't enough to produce enough Cylons and Cylon ships to be anything more than a small rebellion, let alone enough to wage a full on war with 12 planets, considering they had their own ships and apparently didn't commandeer any battlestars or similar.

So you've got a galactic megalomaniac manual on what steps to take to produce cyborg ships/fleets/armies and how long each step is going to take with considered notations on future technology speeding manufacture but increased compexity of design always being ahead if the manufacturing curve and the inherent problems that arise for space faring despots who try to do too much too fast?

Does it mention the reapers in there?
