Observations:
Game is pretty, runs well (on my machine at least )
Game isn't one large map, there's a lot of small (actually fairly huge) maps linked by checkpoints or gates, you can go back and forth as much as you like.
Levels don't take as long to load as I'd heard, probably not much worse than BEEF for most people.
Auto-saves are a *BASTARD* they're often only at the start or end of a map, F6 is your friend, use often but wisely.
Beware the artefacts, they're not all good for you (that is to say, some will fuck you)

Care to elaborate on this point, as I don't quite get it. Due to my moving house this coming weekend I think I'll just buy this in whichever shop has it cheapest on Friday.Dr. kitteny berk wrote: Beware the artefacts, they're not all good for you (that is to say, some will fuck you)
Oh, and cheers for the email Berk.

Agreed. I found myself actually saying out loud "Oh fuck, it's getting dark". This was after I'd just climbed on top of a VW Camper as I was worried about the dogs amassing a pack and going for me... Loving the sporadic guitar playing around the camp fire though.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:more observations:
Artefacts only work if you put them in your belt. (so carrying bad ones is fine)
Whatever HDR etc is in the game is *PERFECT* as you can't see it, it's not overstated, but it's there.
Watching a dog drag another dog you just killed away to feed on it, that was kinda scary.
It's running fairly nicely on my system with medium detail but static lighting (though it still looks sweet), after some tweaking it's pulling a fairly solid 40fps. I am however, getting some awful mouse lag, fuck knows why, also I appear to only be getting 2 speakers worth of sound rather than 5.1 loveliness. Any suggestions gratefully received!
I've had a look for a user.ini or config.ini file for extra tweak action but still had no luck. Anyone else found one yet?

One of the best moments I've had so far was I was talking to a guy who I had just help fight off some bandits when all of the sudden bullets start flying in from another group of bandits that wandered over. The whole dynamic concept is executed brilliantly from what I've seen. Also getting jumped by a pack of dogs can scare the fuck out of you, and then sweet relief when you kill two and the rest run away.
