Nope, 64 bit. I did an update of Punkbuster, and after a bit of googling which pointed me towards a few Support Pages, it seemed that Daul Core was the common denominator and to wait for a patch.

I did notice however that I had a missing "Settings" folder under /User/Documents/Battlefield 4 but I assumed that folder would be generated upon initial load. I could be wrong though and may try and sort that tomorrow to see if that helps.

BUHMP!

So, the game was patched and it worked straight off.. but it was very laggy and the graphics settings were on very low... Did anyone else get that?

Is there quite a hike from BF3? As my PC ran that pretty well, but its getting on now. (Dual Core, 4gb ram, Nvidia 560 ti)

I have the same Tezz, changing the graphics settings doesn't seem to do anything performance wise right now. I have the same nvidia card as you, but 16gb ram and a quadcore but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

May or May not be of use to somebody, my cousin has been sniffing about for bf4 deals and mailed me the following...

I have been looking around and it seems the cheapest place to get it now is with SimplyCDKeys.com

http://www.simplycdkeys.com/search?keyw ... tlefield+4

£33.99 For BF4 and China Rising DLC
£32.99 for the Premium pack (all the follow up DLC's)

OR the one I might get (for myself ;-) includes both for £59.99

That's a good £24.99 saving over the official Origin prices of (£44.99 + £39.99 = £84.98

For info only..

Crikey. Good spot, but it's a hobby all of its own at that price isn't it.

On the one hand, 70 euro is the price of a new console game here but on the other hand, 70 God-damn euros.

40 euro for the base game is acceptable though.

2game are also doing keycodes as well as DVD versions, for just under £2 more but they are fairly reputable.

So, how many of you are going to buy this? I want to buy this but I'm afraid I might not enjoy it as much without 5punkers so I'm holding off until I know I'll not be the only person playing it.

I think I'll wait a while and then buy it just before you all stop playing it

I'm not planning on buying it. I'm not ruling it out, but it's become a cash treadmill. I can play better games for less money.

:above:

As much as I enjoyed BF3, I didn't stop playing because other stuff came along like I did for BF2 and BC2, I stopped because the DLC I didn't have meant my server choices dwindled, and more importantly, I wasn't interesting in buying the DLC because some core parts of the game design grated and after a while I could no longer overlook them.

I don't have much faith that BF4 will address many of my gripes (aside from the Commander being added back in), so I'm very much waiting for reviews from RPS, Total Biscuit and 5punkers, who won't just gush over the pretties and give it 9.5/10.

That's fair enough. I bought premium for bf3 and whilst I enjoyed the contents I always regretted not being able to play it with 5punkers and didn't really touch it much, so I'll wait.

Waiting for 5punkers to jump on, and to see how it actually performs on my current PC (as I don't plan on upgrading for a while). Plus, I have many other games I need to play through first!

TL;DW - Great game on its own merits, but more of the same.

Yeah, I've been playing and it seems fine. Some nice changes, but it's the same old Battlefield.

Hmmmmm interesting plan.

I think what the chap is saying is that get a digital download from the US Amazon and grab BF4 for £18.50ish on the 29th by using an Alaskan billing address as they do not check against the card details. You then get mailed the key, and away you go.

Vaguely tempted - but not massively.

And by "the same old Battlefield" you mean OMG SO GOOD.

Or at least that's how I read it. It's hitting all the pleasure centers.

It's really grown on me since. Was a bit 'meh' at first, but now I've got used to the maps and unlocked some good stuff (for 1 class at least) it's a lot more enjoyable. Especially now it's more stable and things like assignments and boosts actually work.

Cheers Jimmington, I am also slightly tempted.
