The world generation tool I'm using is called ZOMG, appropriately. It looks even better in the game. You can make even madder worlds but they crash the server unfortunately.

That does look very cool, but it's probably less condusive to random silliness. However, I'd like to try some massive 5punky joint project and that might work in a map like that, depending on what it is.

Unfortunately the maps generated by ZOMG have static water, presumably the same with lava. I've tried a couple of tricks by no joy. :(

The server is here: http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?serve ... 8917dd78c2

You'll need to be added to the Trusted Users list before you can change stuff. I've added some people and they can authorise others. It's easy, take a look at "/help ranks".

i think i played on a server like this, the problem is i think that once the person who gave you permision leaves, you cant do anything anymore. or atleast thats what happened to me

Good point. Everyone is now an Op and I think I got everyone's name from the original server log. If not anyone else can promote new "guests".

Discworld could work actually. Round the map off, hollow out underneath, put a layer of black around the bottom/edges, make it stood on elephants and a turtle.

yup, this is what i was thinkin at the time, seemed like to a good fun idea, depending on the size of it you could maybe make a mini ankh-morpork, ice giants etc, plus you could maybe get the water running of the edges which would be pretty swanky

Getting the water running of the edges would be tricky I think, unless maybe you encased columns of water in glass. Looking at the scale of the maps I think a scale Ankh Morpork would be feasible.

I don't know any of discworld at all, so I'm at a disadvantage.

Minas Tirith, Helms deep, Lothlorien, hobbiton, bree, rivendell, isengard and mt doom however..

discworld is easy, and not as faaabulous as middle earth :P

the Discworld, a flat world balanced on the backs of four elephants which, in turn, stand on the back of a giant turtle,[2] Great A'Tuin.

Or if these 2 win at what to do, what about middle earth on top of the Discworld, Compromise. Although, not as awesome as just the discworld!

256*256*256. Our original was 256*256*64 I think. The ZOMG tool suggests it goes up to 512*512*256 but I stuck to the defaults for safety.

Well I thought Diskworld because we could just use the generated terrain with a few modifications, the concentrate on the bits underneath. Think massive spazcave. I don't really know it either, but then I don't know any of those locations of Middle Earth.

Doesn't have to be a location of course, we could make a huge cat. That's probably too complicated though. Or there's a theme that we could all build stuff too, but personally I see that degenerating into CDCs and random stuff.
