Only the noob tubes in Beef were less powerful.
Basically, the no hopping twattery rule has been in effect on 5punk for almost 3 years, but only now have we had to define it/consider enforcing it for 5punkers.

Joking aside, I'm convinced that a group of reasonable people can come to a conclusion about pretty much anything. Even if that conclusion is that they have differing views, I expect most of us could at least understand the other point of view whether or not they agree with it and leave them to it.
The hopping in BF2 is a lot worse. I've seen people who don't seem to touch the floor for a good few seconds whilst maintaining a steady steam of bullets into your face.
Well, that couldn't have gone much worse. It seems that an almost amicable agreement on the boards translates to three or four people spamming the nade launcher as much as possible in order to piss everybody else off. I can only assume this is some kind of revenge for being asked on the boards to act in a way that won't spoil the enjoyment of other 5punkers.
I don't know how Berk will react - my game crashed out, but he's still playing. It's undeniable though that the game was more enjoyable and less frosty after everyone started playing normally later on, and there were still at least eight people. I do know that all the bitching and arguing about this has caused him to consider taking the server down, and frankly I can sympathise with that. I see his options as: either try to make the game enjoyable for 5punkers again and cause huge arguments, or leave it and have nobody want to play on a tuesday night. It would seem that a third option of simply washing his hands of it appears easier than either.
It's very rare that large arguments happen here, and I can't ever remember one that has involved so many of us. I also can't ever remember one that wasn't concluded in a manner where nobody felt bad at the end of it. I hope this doesn't buck the trend.
I thought the issue here was bunnyhopping and noobtubing, not just using it in general. I wasn't jumping about like a mong - well I did once after firing a grenade at pete - I was just using the grenade launcher (and after immediately using my two grenades trying to get headshots with the damned G3), but if using a weapon is enough to make people upset then whatever, I'll play elsewhere
I still don't see how getting a kill with a grenade is "spoiling" it any more than getting a kill with a rifle though, I certainly didn't play any better or get more kills using the grenade launcher than I would have if I'd used the AK and nothing else. Exploiting gameplay mechanics like jumping and firing it, sure, thats can ruin the enjoyment, but... well I guess its like plane whores in beef, they're not doing anything wrong but its annoying to be on the end of it

Regardless of what the agreed rules are, doing things that are obviously annoying people within the boundaries of those rules is not nice, it's griefing.
Although on the flip-side. If someone is being a shit in-game can't you set upon them en masse?
5punkers have (until recently) always been decent enough and tried to aim for fair, even, fun games.
But clearly, that's gone.
As I don't play CoD and wasn't there I'm in the dark, just a suggestion. But I agree you shouldn't have to, even if you are playing on the Internets. This community was based on the idea friendly gaming.

i couldn't help but notice how there is a bit of "friction" between 5punkers recently, this being a prime example, and i believe it's because we are slowly expanding. i remember when i first started art school. all the people in the class were new to each other, and for a whole year we got along perfectly (well, apart from 1 stupid bitch, and we even stayed friendly to her) but when i left a year later, alot of people joined, and our little happy group split into several small groups, and lots of bad stuff happened. I stayed away from that too. this is the classic scenario that happens everywhere everyday. i'm not saying that this is what is happening here, because i'm guessing different rules apply, but it could happen, so please all be nice to each other again, as Dog Pants so often urges us to do.
