You don't get that level of control on the vanilla server. You can spawn things or not spawn things. If this update proves to be working properly and once the server tool is updated I can start to restrict certain things.

I think it'd be good to remove all spawning at some point, to make the game more of a challenge and also more of a game. I don't know how other people feel about that.

Oops, missed out the word 'ethically' from my post, so now spawning TNT will be frowned on as it can be made in the World

I accidentally a moment, is this bad?

If you're holding out for a more complete Minecraft experience you might want to wait a little longer. There's bound to be problems with this update and more fixes on the way.

The server software seems a little flacky now and it's using more RAM, hopefully my box can cope. But the new stuff seems to work reasonably well. Having working enemies is certainly a game changer.

I've made a safe (I hope) area around the spawn point. I'm not claiming it as mine or anything, do what you like to it. Just try to keep it walled in.

Afraid. This is the moment I was afraid of (also, 6). I hopped on the mc5punk server last night and got thwacked to death by an invisible monster whilst running for the peceived safety of the FJ cave. Bit of a show stopper that one.

It could be the server got stuck again. I can't look it it from the office.

I've just read that invisible monsters may be down to having your client set on peaceful.

ive been able to see all the monsters, i beat some spiders with my fists near the spawn although they seem a bit rubberbandy at the minute but i imagine thats due to code optimisation needing alot of work in different areas

also what difficulty is the server set to? i had my game set to easy, probably wont make a difference but it might help if people have the same difficulty setting

There is no difficulty setting on the server, this is the extent of the options

Code: Select all

level-name=world
hellworld=false
spawn-monsters=true
online-mode=true
spawn-animals=true
max-players=20
server-ip=
pvp=false
server-port=25565
I've updated to the latest server software.

Also I noticed tonight that I've been running the server wrong since the health update. This may have caused serious performance problems and definitely made the map load slower. Sorry :oops:

You can do that yourself. Use the "!help" command in the chat for all commands, "!help give" for details on the "!give" command. A diamond pickaxe is item number 278. They're all listed here.

The commands have changed from /command to !command because I've just put the MCAdmin server addon back on. It allows us to have a whitelist of players, no randoms can join. It wasn't working properly after the health update so I couldn't run it, fixed now. It has some more commands as well.

Also the monsters seem a lot better now that I've de-spazzed the server.
