I don't know this show, but judging from that trailer I don't I'd like it. It looks like something I've seen before in 1999.

Kevin & Perry Go Large? :unimpressed:

It's an amusing show, I think. However that film looks like they're taking it too far away from the original concept. There's enough films like that already.

I think so, I only remember it being wank.

That showed nothing much really, quite a bit was recycled footage as well.

The Thing

At first I thought it was another pointless remake, but apparently it is a "prelude" to the original (which isn't particularly clear from either the title or the trailer, which does in fact look like a remake with a female Kurt Russell).

Well, it's got Ronald D. Moore behind the screenplay (of BSG fame), so it might turn out alright.

Dunno how good it'll be though, because the whole power of The Thing is horror and how people deal with that rather than the action imo, that made the original great. If it steps too much towards the action it'll lose what makes it good, because lets be honest, the premise isn't really all that.

Be interesting to know that it's actually a prequel though because everyone has to die, bet they won't though :)

It does look like it follows some of the plot details of the Kurt Russel version. The flamethrower paranoia and speculations over who is human. The Norwegians and discovery of the alien mark it out as the story that was very lightly hinted at in the 1982 version (not original version, that was the 1951 "The Thing From Another World"), although it looks to be set in modern day with plenty of Americans in it. To be fair, there's nothing to say there wasn't Americans involved in the 1982 version of the Norwegian expedition, but it smacks of Hollywoodism to me. And of course we all know how it ends:

However, despite all my reservations it looks bloody good to me. Just a shame it wasn't set in the same period as the last one.

It's only been 10 years though :/

Still, that looks a bit darker than the Tobey Maguire versions, so might be a tad more interesting.

They made a film out of a board game.

Spiderman reboot? I was like "what, already?"

But it's startling how with each new iteration of superhero films the new version somehow manages to make the last look camp and cartoony in comparison.

Spidey's always totally been my favourite superhero though, I don't really know why. I grew up on Saturday morning cartoons of him when he didn't have a hyphen.
