Well, i got my retail copy of futurebeefs and registered it in some kind of war of attrition. It wouldn't register straight with origin so i sent an email with the code, but got bored waiting for a response so jumped on the live chat.

Two customer service reps later, i was told i needed to create an account at pogo.com. I was confused but they added my code after i had and added that "persona" to my EA account (something about Pogo being an EA classic account).

Needlessly roundabout, but now the game sits on my origin list next to all the other games that require origin to play.

From vanilla the recommendation is 1.4 then incremental to 1.5. Straight to 1.5 apparently causes issues. However, I've not managed to get it working in any combination.

Ballsed that right up.
Managed to install it on the SSD drive that is the size of gnats cock. Thought cut my losses and reinstall, but comedy Origin wipes it and you have to redownload. Thankfully fibre optic means a 15 minute wait only, but still...

OK, so far so good.
Main program > 1.40 >1.40-1.50 incremental > Northern Strikers.
but hang on, what is this 1.51 2gb patch about.

Wow. 3 servers left, and they aren't full.
I have stopped on 1.5 - do i take the gamble and go for 1.51 only to have to reinstall the lot if it goes wrong and there is no servers...

Well i would call that a success - marginally.
Installed up to 1.51 about 60ish servers about, fairly lively one we were playing on.
Still really frustrating to play which is not helped by people who have probably never stopped playing, but even with that side of things, it was nice to have a bit of thinking with attacking titans and the such like.
Will be interesting to see if i can stomache tomorrow while she is on nights!

Not sure to be honest. When i downloaded and fired up it mumbled something about needing a patch yada yada yada, so then i patched it up to 1.51 and all was good. Terry (Chargenut) bought it new yesterday (the usual looking for disk / write off a tenner dilemma) fired it up straight from Origin and was able to play. I think mine was retail so maybe that was the difference.

Was all good though. In the end.

Huzzah! Pestering the EA sponsored Indian subcontinent has granted me a deluxe future beef copy on origin. I'm not going to say thanks though, because it's a small plus against EA's massive pile of fuck you.

I should do this. How much harrassment are we looking at?

Couple of emails, I even told them I didn't have the code because of no manual. I merely pointed out my account already said I had the deluxe edition as I'd registered the game and expansion with their service years ago, but origin only shows northern strike (fookin lanister bastads) and as such they needed to sort it out.

Now I'm trying to get widescreen resolutions to work.

Digging out the .exe from the origin folder and creating a desktop shortcut with "+fullscreen 1 +widescreen 1" seems to have done the trick.

So did anyone else buy BF3 Premium? I got a 25% deal on it from Green Man Gaming so I only paid $38 for it. I have to say, the new maps are OK. If you like the COD style TDM/Domination gameplay, this does it better.

I did, actually. I still like threef.
It's still downloading so I've not tested it yet.

I didn't because I'm not interested in the COD expansion. The tanky one might rekindle my interest.

Well, you get all the expansions plus some new camo and stuff. It's not bad value for money IMO, especially at 25% off.
