In fairness, I only write formal letters with a fountain pen. To give you some perspective as to how often I have to write formal letters, I've been looking for a fountain pen repair place for the last six months or so.
Anyway, if I'm just jotting stuff down on paper, I use a 0.3mm/3H mechanical pencil or one of those Staedtler graphics pens (no idea where my fancy Rotring drawing pens have got to
