oh shit, I meant what does GiG mean. The series is called SAG isnt it? I should know that.

If it hasnt been mentioned before Spriggan is quite good. A bit of an Akira rip-off but worth a watch I think.

I'm in the process of renting every anime title blockbuster.co.uk have via their unlimited rental service, was surprised to find they have over 200 anime DVDs - mostly ADV ones.

I did the torrents before, but got a little frustrated with the variability of translations, quality and the odd missing episode.

The translations on the ADV DVDs is way above what the old Manga releases used to be like - where they'd do things like translate "baka" as "you fucking shit head" - and a few of them have the cultural references popups as extras, like you see in a lot of fansubs.

Akira was the first I ever watched, then bought (on VHS) whatever was around at the time, leading to an embarrasing number of dubbed titles - at least with DVDs you can choose subs. It was when I bought the Akira double pack, watched the film with subs, then immediately after watched the "making of" with dubbed clips that I realised what a dog's arse dubbed versions were.

All over 10 years old now, the vids, and a few good ones hard to get hold of now, Wings of Honneamise, Plastic Little, Gunbuster, Appleseed and the original AD Police trilogy. A few shit ones too, like Wicked City and Mad Bull.

Mostly recently have enjoyed more varied stuff Excel Saga, Love Hina, Azumanga Daoih, and Fruits Basket as well as the more "obvious" Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Full Metal Panic and Burn Up Excess.

Next few to arrive will be .hack//sign, Full Metal Alchemist, Kiddy Grade, Noir and Kino's Journey.

Edit: Here is blockbuster's ADV list.
