It's quite possible there are 8800 specific bugs in there, hence my giving it more patches (and probably a few different drivers)

edit: looking around the arma forum, seems it is a common 8800 problem

There are, the most pointed being the view distance bug introduced in the last patch. BIS do have a very good history of listening to their player base and actually doing something about it though.

Btw, for everyone finding it way to hard, you do know there's an option for Cadet Mode and dumbing down the AI slightly (they take longer to react and don't shoot as straight). Might make it a bit more fun. And as for sniping: couple of effective shots in their direction will horse them to go prone, then you can pick off the enemy snipers, machine gunners and AT dudes first - in that order :)

Anyway, as Pants said it's not to everyone's tastes and I usually find that if I take against a game in the first instance it'd pretty doomed so I won't yabber on about it! :P

What are you using to measure the FPS? I'd like to run the same thing on mine...shiny new 8800 just installed btw :w00t:

It's a modified quake 4 engine isn't it?

com_showfps 1 would do it in Quake IV

Thats odd Berk, we're running almost identical rigs and im getting about 40fps at max graphics. I would tell you exactly but I refuse to reinstall the game, purged it from my system last night :)
