Also, all of those screenshots are at night, during the day there's more HDR and lighting effects so frame rates are a bit lower, then when you factor in other players/bots it gets lower still. I was averaging 30-40fps on my 7900gs with med-high settings and full dynamic lighting during the day with other players.

IGN/failplanet wrote:Hey STALKER fans!
Thanks for signing up to be notified of the FilePlanet STALKER Beta test event. As you might have guessed, with the game hitting stores this coming Tuesday, FilePlanet was unable to run a pre-launch beta test as originally planned.
Modern software development – especially for big and ambitious titles – is a tricky and time-sensitive affair, literally involving teams from all over the world. On behalf of FilePlanet, I’d like to apologize that we weren’t able to move forward with the pre-launch beta test as we’d originally planned.
But there’s some good news coming out of Chernobyl! (How often do you hear that?) We’re still planning on doing a multiplayer test event for FilePlanet subscribers post-launch. We’ll keep those of you on this list notified of when you can get in there and get your boots dirty. Stay tuned for details, and thanks for your patience!

Code: Select all
If you will run from one storyline point to another ignoring additional quests it should take about 30 hours to complete the game, but taking the additional quests, the quests generated by A-Live system it could take up to 80 hours of gameplay.
There are seven endings in the game where five of them are false and only two endings are true - the truth will open the player to further areas.

Fuck it, it'll still run, just won't be as pretty as on the aforementioned 8800 cunts'* machines. A game as open ended as STALKER will have me easily clocking in 100 hours+. Oblivion had upwards of 100 hours of my life, all of them wonderful.
*Love you really guys

PC Format Review
The magazine PC Format has reviewed STALKER. Despite a few minor negatives, the game has recieved 93%.
A few quotes:
"STALKER is a thoroughly affecting game."
"Fears that, given Stalker's lengthy production time, it wouldn't stand up visually can largely be ignored. the character models arent that varied and theres the occasional clipping glitch, but it's gorgeous. in a gruesome, dirty, broken-down, mutated kind of way."
"Realtime lighting in particular is breathtaking."
"Impressive A-Life simulator."
"Method of moving between the areas is a bit of a sticking point as you only cross certain junction points, accompanied by lengthy loading screens."
"Disjointed storyline, which can be tough to follow for much of the game."
"When its all said and done, I havent been quite so affected by a game in a long while. There are parts that are so unpleasant that I felt uncomfortable just playing through them. I don't want to give too much away, but the early poltergeist lab is just plain horrible."
"RPG elements are not all that pronounced [but] definite progression to your character which is mainly down to the vast and varied equipment at your disposal."

Wowser, so it is. Although for some reason this makes me sad really, I certainly won't be
ing this.
Besides, I've got the special edition coming on Friday and it'd take too long to download. I'd be sat here, unblinkingly watching Azure Russ, possibly erect.
