I couldn't find the medical hut so I ended up in the trader hut trying to get killed... i've nailed the traders dog and that seemed to piss him off so I could well be dead by now

I'm shocked to see that no-one has mentioned the hauntings. Berk and Cashy are mentioned in the 'Criminals' section (although I think their reasoning for Cashy is poor).

Why is it so goddam hard to get killed around here? I've attacked various people (roughly all of the ones I have encountered), i've hacked lumps out of various members of the police horse and all they do is heal me... in the end I went into the jungle and found a monkey to kill me... instead I come back later to find some other cupcake has come along, killed the monkey and fucking healed me! AAAAAARGH

You could always try swimming off shore, getting a shark bite, and then keep moving till you die. Pretty sure York is very close to the sea, so it might be a good idea to go South and try this out.

I had a quick go yesterday, started a soldier in York, went into the med hut. Was shocked to find a native there, so quickly dispatched him.
How was I to know he was a shaman?
Someone called Tanis hit me about 20 times for 3DMG each - while I was away with no AP of course, eventually nibbling me to death. Apparently this constitutes a "pwning" in this game. The way one might "pwn" a cargo container in Eve - truly something to tell the grandchildren about.
So I revved, cut him a few times and legged it to the 5punky beachhead.
