Unfortunately that's just the way Halo is, especially on XP.
Halo runs about twice as fast if it's on Windows 98, whcih is extremely frustrating.
Let's just hope when they port across Halo 2 onto PC, they won't fuck it up this time
werd... I'm going to try the new Omega drivers when they come out.

G4 1.33GHz, 768MB of RAM...
Oh wait, you mean PC specs...
Sempr0n 2600+, Berk's A7N8X Deluxe, 1GB of RAM, 80GB, Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB reference board and one of those lovely Logitech MX 1000 Laser things (but I only ever use one button, the others scare me with their mere presence).

I used one of those mice today at PC World and they're very comfy, with buttons all over the place!
I ended up buying these from overclockers.co.uk instead :

Unfortunately Halo was poorly converted from the XBox to PC, and this resulted in the game running terrible on almost all the machines that were about at it's time of release.
Since then with newer graphics and faster memory etc. the game has finally become "playable" on the PC, allthough it's a tad too late

Which is a bit odd considering an Xbox is a Pentium III running something not a million miles away from Windows.

I thought i'd express my geekiness here, caus...
well anyway here you go:
Main machine:
AMD XP3200+
1024mb dual channel DDR400
250gb 8mb WD SATA HDD
Geforce 4800Ti 128mb
Radeon 9600se PCI
XP Media center edition 2005
why two graphics cards you ask?
behold my desk (when free of clutter)
The CRTs are bog standard 17"ers, The TFT is my pride and joy, a nice 19" with 12ms responce time :D
Server in lounge cupboard
XP2000+
256mb DDR266 ram
40gb system disk
400gb storage
This hosts all my music/films/tv shows for the whole house (ive got two housemates who have to put up with me. poor souls). It doesnt have any keyboard/mouse/monitor as its all admin'd over the network. It stays on 24/7 and whores bittorrent most of the time
I use a chipped xbox on the network running XBMC to watch stuff off the server streamed to my TV. Very handy
And i am in the process of building a mini ITX computer. I have the innards but havent had time to build a nice box. When finished it should be about the size of a small DVD player. ATM its just a pile of bits.
I also use a wifi PDA to watch films (and porn) in bed. Oh yeah baby
I think thats about it!
gawd, i sound like a dick when i re-read this. Oh well. But honestly im not. i just have too much time on my hands and a penchant for gadgets

Prof Hawking :
That's a nice (yet extremely nerdy) setup you have there.
Do you find streaming TV etc. hard to setup, or does everything run quite smoothly once it's all configured properly?
MOD EDIT : To see replies regarding chipping an Xbox and streaming video/music, please view the following thread http://www.5punk.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=507
