Duke of Ted wrote:I think Sandwich wrote the review in this way because when 2142 was first played by a few 5punkers there were cries of:
"this is fucking shit, worst battlefield evar! Do not buy this game!"
Yeah, I read his closing statement more that people were being a cupcake to the game, by not giving it a chance, rather than saying everyone who disagrees is a cupcake.

I won't buy this personally because I'm not that interested in BeeF right now, my PC struggles with it, and there are things about the online play I don't like, even on our own server. I don't think this release will do much to change that, irrespective of whatever bugs may or may not exist.
This could change if I upgrade my PC, but despite upgrading components twice since BF2 came out in the summer of 2005, performance seems to have decreased with subsequent patches, which is the reverse of what I've experienced with patches for many other games.

Also [and I stress this is the lesser of the two motives] I'm taking a stand against the unwanted advertising, as a purchase seems a silent acceptance that I'm okay with the policy, which I think is the thin end of a collosal wedge which will make our games end up like US TV.
Again, this could change - I don't think I'm so against it, that advertising would stop me buying a game I really wanted, and I'm aware that it exists in many games I already own.

I don't think I've urged anyone to not buy it, yet I watch it's progress with interest. Much more influential people than me have used inaccurate analogies about this game, such as Penny Arcade, so we'll have to see what happens. Next summer it'll have either disappeared without trace, or it will find a whole new bunch of players suddenly taking interest, much as BF2 did this year.

yeah exactly, to disagree is fine by me, but there was obviously a lot of people who's mind was made up before the game even came out, it wouldn't matter but the people that do this attack the game ruthlessly, and frankly there is a lot of stubbornness about the board, and a whole superiority thing going on "your post wasn't spelt correctly and by correcting you i am better".

Fine you guys win at this internet stuff, frankly I'd much rather be outside.

Again with the really unsubtle and remarkably poor attempts at personal insults towards whoever.

well i suppose thats to be expected.

I don't understand why KB has a critical standpoint on every one of my posts, I'm not insulting anyone by saying I'd rather be outside.

I'm not even going to bother posting any more because it's frustrating how much my posts get construed from the actually intention.

You shouldn't take it so personally, it's only a bit of fun. Granted it's at your expense but I'm sure there's no real malice.

Its easy to read some of the things you post as being back-handed jibes or insults, which explains why they get the reaction they do. Instead of just pouting about it you could maybe just try rewording things occasionally.

Saying things like "Fine you guys win at this internet stuff, frankly I'd much rather be outside" can easily be seen as saying that the "guys" in question wouldn't rather be outside, and therefore are somehow inferiour. Now I'm not saying thats what you meant, I'm just saying its a very possible interpretation of what you wrote. A little food for thought perhaps...

Yeeaaaah....

Possibly people take offence to having it insinuated that they are cunts or ill informed liars. Or maybe its that statements like "fear is completely wrong on both accounts ofcourse" make you sound a bit arrogant.

If that isnt what you actually mean, maybe you should take more time over your posts to make an effort to word them better. As a general rule, if lots of people are mis-understanding you, but understanding each other fine, its usually because you are not being overly clear.
